The primary objective of this project is the planning, execution, and verification of the migration and upgrade of our existing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment to VCF 5.0 (VCF9). This includes updating all core components, such as vCenter, ESXi, NSX, and vSAN, ensuring minimal downtime and preserving the integrity of all hosted workloads. 

必要条件

– At least 5-7 years of experience in VMware ecosystem administration and engineering.

– Deep, hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including experience with major version upgrades.

– Expert-level knowledge of vSphere, vSAN, and NSX-T/NSX-V.

– Strong understanding of SDDC Manager operations and lifecycle management.

– Solid understanding of networking (L2/L3, routing, VLANs, VPNs, etc.).

– Experience with some programming language (eg, Python, Go, Java). 

– Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure migration and upgrade projects.

– VMware certification such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV Deploy/Design, or VCF Specialist is highly desirable.

– Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

– Upper-Intermediate or higher English level. Japanese language and/or experience working with Japanese clients is a big plus.

 

 

職務内容

This position will focus on upgrading and optimizing our virtualized environment using the latest VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) version. The successful candidate will be a VCF expert who can navigate complex dependencies and implement best practices for a modern, scalable, and resilient private cloud infrastructure.

– Lead the comprehensive assessment, planning, and design for the VCF upgrade from the current version to VCF 5.0 (VCF9).

– Execute the in-place upgrade of SDDC Manager and all associated VCF components (vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN). Perform VCF deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management.

– Develop and execute test plans and rollback strategies to ensure business continuity throughout the migration process.

– Validate and test system performance, connectivity, and resilience post-migration.

– Optimize the new VCF environment for performance, security, and scalability.

– Work closely with application teams to validate workload functionality post-migration. Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams to ensure smooth cutover and rollback plans.

– Provide clear and comprehensive documentation of the upgraded VCF environment, including configuration changes, upgrade steps, and operational procedures. Deliver knowledge transfer and handover to operations/support teams to ensure smooth ongoing maintenance.
