This project involves the engineering and quality assurance for a Tier-1 Global Streaming Platform. The team is responsible for ensuring the reliability of the Operating System across a diverse fleet of devices (TVs and Players) already in the market. The environment is fast-paced and requires close collaboration with the client’s core engineering unit to troubleshoot live issues, validate firmware maintenance releases, and ensure a seamless viewer experience worldwide.

Job Description
Core Experience: 2 – 6 years of hands-on experience in validation and testing of Smart TVs, Set-Top Boxes (STBs), or embedded multimedia devices.

OS & Platform Knowledge: Deep familiarity with testing proprietary TV Operating Systems, including firmware updates, sideloading builds, and navigating developer modes.

Technical Debugging: Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA); must be able to capture and analyse system logs (via Serial, Telnet, SSH) to identify failure points rather than just reporting bugs.

Domain Knowledge (OTA/OTT):

Strong understanding of OTT (Over-the-Top) streaming workflows, including video playback, buffering, and A/V sync analysis.

Knowledge of OTA (Over-the-Air) broadcast standards (ATSC, DVB, ISDB) and tuner functionality.

Networking: Solid knowledge of Router Configuration, Wi-Fi stability (2.4/5GHz),
Good to have knowledge of DNS and packet analysis using tools like Wireshark.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, with specific experience interacting with clients or teams located in different geographical time zones.

Automation: Basic proficiency in Python scripting for automating repetitive tasks.

Tools: Hands-on experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).

Education: B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Job responsibilities

End-to-End Product Validation: Execute functional, regression, and sustaining test cycles on Smart TV and STB platforms to ensure OS stability and compliance with product specifications.

Root Cause Analysis & Logging: Go beyond standard test execution by capturing logs (Serial/System logs) and performing initial debugging to isolate the root cause of crashes or defects before escalating to development.

Hybrid Testing (OTA & OTT): Validate both live broadcast features (channel scanning, signal strength, EPG) and streaming application performance (video start time, adaptive bitrate switching) across various network conditions.

Client Collaboration: Act as the primary technical interface for the client; attend triage meetings with global engineering teams, providing detailed status updates and clarifying technical queries across time zones.

Defect Reporting: Create comprehensive bug reports including steps to reproduce, system logs, and network captures; verify fixes and manage the defect lifecycle in JIRA.

Network & Environment Setup: Configure and maintain complex test environments, including specific router settings and network simulations, to replicate customer issues.

Automation Support: Identify automation opportunities and maintain and execute basic Python scripts to improve testing efficiency.
