Bosch eBike | Digital Business is on a daring mission to build the first connected biking platform with an entirely new breed of products and services designed to drive the future of biking. The eBike Flow App is an important companion app for eBikes “powered by Bosch”, providing features like customized riding, theft protection, advanced navigation, and activity tracking for a fast-growing base of several million registered riders
The “Navigation & Activity Tracking” team is end-to-end responsible for these app modules, including the development, operation, and scaling of the related backends.
In this role, you will focus on the reliable development and operation of backend services related to Navigation—including eBike routing services, GPX route storage, and geolocation lookups—ensuring our infrastructure remains robust as we scale and innovate
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Backend Developer operating in an agile environment, specifically the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Minimum of 4+ years of extensive experience in software engineering and development, with a strong focus on Golang, Kubernetes, containerization, and test automation
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in database design, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience in operating distributed productive systems built upon microservices, PubSub, REST-APIs, or Protobuf
- Strong understanding of agile values, principles, and frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to align with app development teams, data management teams, and other stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly for analyzing API design concerning complexity and security
- Bonus skills: Development experience in Java and knowledge of geo-informatics
Job responsibilities
- Implement and maintain highly scalable Kubernetes backend services using the Go programming language
- Design and implement scalable database solutions and continuously monitor backend services to handle an increasing, fast-growing user load
- Manage, maintain, and update a fork of the open-source Graphhopper routing engine, keeping it synchronized with upstream releases and executing monthly OpenStreetMap data updates
- Design, test, and enhance customized eBike routing profiles and improve map-matching features specific to eBike riders
- Develop advanced navigation features and innovations, such as roundtrip routing, off-grid navigation, social use cases (group rides), third-party API integration, and AI integration
- Design and implement a comprehensive testing strategy, writing unit, integration, and end-to-end (e2e) tests to extend code test coverage
- Conduct code reviews for pull requests and maintain owned platform features post-release, including necessary bug fixing
- Work seamlessly with DevOps teams to manage the Kubernetes deployment environment and participate in sprint reviews with the Product Owner and SW-Architects
