Vehicle Cockpit Accelerator by GlobalLogic is a hypervisor-based accelerator that leverages our deep expertise in telecommunication units (TCU), instrumental clusters, and in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI) to develop virtual automotive cockpit solutions. It also includes a demonstration kit to help customers visualize how their solution will work across various automotive use-cases, from the core functionality to the user experience.

  • Virtual platform with Android-based IVI, Linux-based cluster, and safety island hosted by dedicated R7 MCU driven by Freertos
  • Dedicated Cortex R7 MCU to manage safety critical tasks (e.g., communication via CAN bus, supervising app core and hypervisor)
  • Provides ultra-fast RVC (<1s from power-on) and parktronic functionality
  • Interacts with hypervisor-managed domains via Virtio interface and HW mailboxes
  • Can completely switch off instrument cluster in emergency with RVC-enabled functionality

  • Drivers share peripheral devices across systems
  • Shared GPU enables rendering for 2D/3D scenes in each guest
  • Paravirtualized Audio enables each domain to play sounds or use voice assistant
  • CAN-Pipe-to-Guest-Domain provides bidirectional interaction between CAN bus and guest domains
  • CAN-to-HID forwards CAN bus events to Android IVI with regular HID event representation (enables integration of events like volume level change without modifiying Android OS)
