Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Python and AI/ML, GenAI Engineering Manager to lead our talented team of engineers and data scientists.

The Manager Engineer is responsible for driving the development and implementation of innovative AI/ML solutions, managing project timelines, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Python and machine learning, combined with leadership experience as they are also accountable for executing the People Leader fundamentals in line with GL Policies and drive a learning-based culture.

 

Job responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of AI/ML engineers, data scientists, and Python developers, with a strong focus on developing and deploying Generative AI (GenAI) solutions that drive business innovation and value.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in designing and building GenAI systems including LLMs, fine-tuned models, prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), embeddings, and multi-modal AI applications.
• Drive the development and deployment of GenAI models and pipelines using Python and GCP-native services, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and AI Studio.
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient AI architectures with strong emphasis on GenAI performance, governance, latency, throughput, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with product managers, data teams, and business stakeholders to identify and deliver GenAI use cases across the enterprise.
• Stay on top of the rapidly evolving GenAI landscape, evaluating and integrating advancements such as open-source LLMs, diffusion models, vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone), and GenAI APIs.
• Promote best practices in GenAI model development, evaluation, interpretability, and responsible AI, ensuring ethical and compliant use of AI technologies.
• Guide the team in implementing robust MLOps practices on GCP, including continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD), feature stores, model monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Actively support AWS-to-GCP migration efforts where applicable, ensuring smooth transition of AI/ML workloads while maintaining performance and minimizing disruption.
• Mentor team members in areas of GenAI development, scalable ML infrastructure, and cloud-native engineering practices, fostering a strong culture of learning and excellence.
• Monitor and manage project timelines, ensuring successful and timely delivery of AI initiatives aligned with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
• Own the production readiness, incident management, and stability of AI systems, proactively addressing performance and reliability challenges.
• Communicate effectively with senior leadership on GenAI strategy, roadmap progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide AI initiatives, including cloud modernization, AI/ML center of excellence (CoE), and cloud cost governance.
