Shashank Samant

Since joining GlobalLogic in 2008, Shashank Samant has transformed the company from a team of bright software engineers working with start-ups, into a global digital engineering services leader, helping Fortune 1000 companies achieve their digital ambitions. In Shashank’s time as President and CEO of GlobalLogic, the company has experienced explosive growth in size, reach, and revenue — all while developing a strong reputation and a culture that fosters engaged employees who are passionate about innovation and client success.

Prior to joining GlobalLogic, Shashank was President of Ness Technologies, where he founded and built their product engineering services business and grew it to a successful IPO on the NASDAQ exchange in 2004. Prior to Ness, Shashank was the leader of product engineering for Hewlett-Packard’s Verifone line of business, a global innovator and leader in Point of Sale (POS) and payment technologies. Before HP, Shashank was instrumental in establishing IBM’s first India-based software engineering lab, helping globalize IBM’s R&D and software engineering. Shashank started his career at Citicorp, where he was part of the core team that developed the FlexCube banking product that changed retail banking. In addition to his operating executive role at GlobalLogic, Shashank also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at Office Depot, a $10B publicly-traded retail leader based in the US.

Shashank is a frequent speaker on the topics of global innovation and digital disruption. He is an avid cook and history buff. You can engage Shashank in enlightening conversations about culture and history, or find him dining late at night with the chefs of the hotels where he stays during his travels.

Jan Babiak

Jan’s board service focuses on companies that have complex global systems with market-competitive, cutting-edge digital platforms. She currently sits on the Risk Committee and the Audit and Conduct Review Committee for Bank of Montreal, and she is Chair of the Audit Committee and a Finance Committee member for Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. Jan’s prior board service includes the Royal Mail and Logica plc. In 2017, she was named by NACD Directorship magazine as one of the most influential people in the boardroom community.

Prior to her work as a board member, Jan Babiak spent 28 years with Ernst & Young in various board-level and global P&L leadership roles in areas such as Technology Security & Risk Services, Regulatory & Public Policy, and Climate Change & Sustainability.

Jan holds a BBA in Accounting, an MBA, and has qualifications as a CPA, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and former Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP).

Hafiz Lalani

Hafiz joined CPPIB in February 2006 in the Toronto office and subsequently moved to CPPIB’s London office in 2013. Hafiz currently sits on the Boards of the following CPPIB investments: GlobalLogic, Hotelbeds, AWAS, and ista. Additional CPPIB investments include Livingston, NEWAsurion, Dorna, and AgCoA.

Prior to joining CPPIB, Hafiz worked in the Technology, Media & Telecom investment banking group at CIBC World Markets. Prior to CIBC World Markets, Hafiz worked for Millennium Research Group, a boutique research and consulting firm focused in the medical device industry.

Hafiz holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and is a CFA Charterholder.

Marcel Erni

Marcel Erni is co-founder, partner, and a board member of Partners Group, one of the largest private markets investment managers in the world. Founded in 1996 in Zug, Switzerland, Partners Group has over 1200 employees in 20 offices worldwide, serves 850 institutional investors, and has $83 billion in assets under management.

In addition to his board role at GlobalLogic, Mr. Erni also serves on the boards of other Partners Group portfolio companies: Global Blue and AMMEGA. Previously, he worked at Goldman Sachs & Co. and McKinsey & Co.

Marcel holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a PhD in finance and banking from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland.

 

Steve Pusey

Steve Pusey is the former CTO of Vodafone Group, the world’s second-largest mobile telecommunications company. Over the course of nearly ten years, he took the company to network leadership in nearly every market. Prior to joining Vodafone, Steve was President of the EMEA and Asia regions for Nortel Networks, where he was responsible for all sales, marketing, and customer operations. He also spent five years at British Telecommunications.

Steve is currently the Board Chairperson for the Vodafone Venture Capitalist unit and represented Vodafone on the GSMA Association Board. He also serves on the Huawei Customer Strategy Board and the HP Customer Advisory Board. Previously, Steve served on the Verizon Wireless JV Board and the IBM Customer Advisory Board, and he was the Chairman for Nortel’s Caty unit.

Steve attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and holds certifications from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and the Haas Technical Education Center (HTEC) with distinction.

Todd Miller

Todd Miller is currently the Managing Director in the Private Equity division of Partners Group, a leading global private equity investment firm based in Zug, Switzerland. Mr. Miller has 18 years of industry experience in Finance, Private Equity, Capital Markets and M&A. He has served on multiple boards of successful companies such as Radial Inc., Livingston International, Innotrac Corporation, Foundations Partners Group and Centerre Healthcare Corporation.

Prior to joining Partners Group, Mr. Miller was Principal at Sterling Partners, a diversified investment management company specializing in Private Equity and Asset Management, where he led a series of successful investments primarily in the tech-enabled business services sector. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Tri-Artisan Capital Partners, Merrill Lynch, and Bank of America. He was also founder and Principal at Capital Atlantico, an investment firm dedicated to launching the first REIT-like investment vehicle in Brazil.

Mr. Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, USA.

Stephen Oesterle

Dr. Stephen Oesterle currently serves as an advisor to several private equity groups and operating companies in the healthcare industry including EQT, Cathay Capital, Temasek Holdings, Samsung and Verily Life Sciences. He is on the public boards of Baxter International, Sigilon Therapeutics, Peijia Medical and Montes Archimedes Special Acquisition Corporation.

Dr. Oesterle retired in 2015 from Medtronic plc, the world’s largest medical device company. He joined Medtronic’s executive committee in 2002 as Senior Vice President for Medicine and Technology. In this role he provided leadership for Medtronic scientific research, formation of technological strategies and continued development of strong cooperative relationships with the world’s medical communities, technical universities, financial institutions and emerging medical device companies.

Previously, Dr. Oesterle served as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Harvard University Medical School and as Director of Invasive Cardiology Services at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. A teacher and innovator in the field of interventional cardiology, he has also developed and directed interventional cardiology programs at Georgetown University and at Stanford University.

Dr. Oesterle is a 1973 summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College and received his medical doctorate with honors from Yale University in 1977.

Normand Legault

Normand Legault is senior private equity advisor to the CPP Investment Board. He is also President of GPF1 Inc., an advisory and mergers and acquisition consultancy, a professional sports, live entertainment and communications advisory company. In addition, he serves on the boards of Dorna Sports, a Madrid-based sports management, marketing and media company and Aéroports de Montréal, a private, not-for-profit corporation responsible for the operation and management of the of Montreal’s largest international airports.

A seasoned operating executive, prior to his board positions, Normand was CEO and Chairman of Solotech, Inc., an innovative provider of technological solutions in audio, video, lighting and rigging, for professional sports venues, broadcast, cultural venues, boardrooms and classrooms.

Normand earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Université de Sherbrooke in Quèbec, and completed the Owner/President Management (OPM) program at Harvard Business School.
