Costin Badici, Driving Innovation with AI/ML Community

For Costin Badici, GlobalLogic Romania’s AI/ML Competency Head, knowledge sharing isn’t just part of the job, it’s something he genuinely enjoys. By actively driving the community, Costin demonstrates how being involved in an internal technical group can boost your own expertise, strengthen your leadership skills, and ensure clients benefit from the most up-to-date, impactful technologies.

Community Name: Tell us more about the community you are part of.

As AI/ML Competency Head, I am currently leading the AI/ML internal community, where I provide technical mentorship, organize knowledge-sharing sessions, and conduct technical interviews for AI-focused roles. What motivates me to contribute is the fact that I am a big fan of knowledge sharing and technical presentations.

It also allows me to engage in public speaking, which helps me reach a large, diverse audience, explain complex technical AI and ML concepts in an accessible way, and inspire others to explore and contribute to the field.

Synergy in Action: How does the community improve your project work?

For me, the AI/ML Community is a critical space to exchange ideas and stay up to date with the latest technology trends. A part of my role is also helping others on their current projects and contributing to project and account starting activities. Being part of the community exposes me to a broader technical spectrum, provides me with visibility into other interesting use cases, and how other community members solve problems.

For example, I have recently supported a colleague in defining the technical architecture and roadmap for an AI-generated financial insights project. Because of our community network, it was a great experience to brainstorm together and quickly gain exposure to specific complementary technologies and architectural patterns that ensured the project launched with a robust and scalable foundation.

Staying Ahead of the Curve: What’s the latest tech you explored together?

AI is probably one of the hottest technical topics at this moment in time, so it can be challenging to keep up with the latest technologies and frameworks. One of our goals is to incorporate this technology effectively into our daily work and help our customers innovate faster.

Therefore, there has been a lot of focus on exploring AI-driven Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools like Velocity AI SDLC and other similar tools available on the market. Incorporating AI SDLC into our daily work in a responsible way is critical to the projects’ success as we have the possibility to drive results faster and at a lower cost.

Beyond Coding: How do you contribute to the community’s growth?

I am actively involved in preparing presentations and knowledge sharing sessions, in mentoring colleagues, and in conducting technical interviews for AI/ML focused roles. The first hybrid AI/ML community event was a great success, with over 80 participants from across the different GlobalLogic offices in Romania. In addition to this, I collaborate with other communities and competencies from within the EMEA region.

For example, together with other colleagues, we have launched the AI Academy, a learning path with 14 courses that is available on-demand on our internal learning platform.

Future Blueprint: How is the community shaping your career path?

My long-term career aspiration is to evolve from a technical leader to a strategic contributor who shapes the future direction of AI/ML within the enterprise, ensuring that we responsibly leverage technology to deliver breakthrough customer results. The AI/ML Community is central to achieving this aspiration as it provides the ground and network for sharing expertise and keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies.

My active participation in the community not only enhances my visibility but allows me to connect directly with the next generation of innovators, ensuring our company maintains a competitive and diverse technical team.

Advice for New Talent: Why is community involvement key to success here?

As you onboard within GlobalLogic, joining a technical community is great for expanding your network beyond your direct team and sharpening your technical skills. Participating in technical communities is seen as a benefit when it comes to interacting with our customers, as we come prepared with a more diverse perspective and are ultimately able to deliver outstanding results.

My advice to new-joiners is to prioritize community engagement from day one and stay connected to boost your skills and visibility within the company!
