The story of Ioan Chis and the project team is a testament to this philosophy. Drawing from a rich background that spread academic AI teaching and FinTech leadership, Ioan has led his team to seamlessly integrate into the partner’s engineering organization. They have taken ownership of critical workstreams, from AI-driven automation to mobile modernization, delivering scalable solutions that redefine operational efficiency in the different sectors.

How did you reach your current role?

My professional journey began with a foundation as a software engineer, reinforced by my experience teaching Intelligent Systems (AI) in academia, transitioning naturally into management roles. I led various development teams and launched several projects, including the FinTech QuantoPay platform, tackling the rigorous security and scalability demands of the financial sector. I further consolidated this base by managing cloud infrastructure and applying DevOps principles for efficient software delivery and maintenance. Currently, I am leading the Acceleration Roadmap Lab, serving as a Project/Engineering Manager at GlobalLogic. I leverage this synthesis of technical, operational, and product expertise to drive the strategic delivery of complex client requirements—most notably for our client—focusing on AI adoption, innovation, transparency, and successful execution.

Engineering Impact: What is the core mission of your project?

Our mission is simple, but ambitious:  to accelerate product delivery and strengthen platform capabilities across multiple business-critical workstreams, while ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency. At the heart of it, the Lab is about more than processes: it’s about integrating seamlessly with our client’s engineering teams, collaborating day-to-day, taking ownership, and creating measurable impact.The initiative covered multiple parallel streams, covering all applications and core business from identity management to reporting, requiring strong coordination, dependency management, and alignment with the evolving product roadmap.

Tech Stack & Breakthroughs: What was your team’s biggest technical win?

The team uses a modern and diverse technology stack, built on key technologies including Python, OpenAI, Anthropic, and LiteLLM for AI; .NET 8, SQL Server, and MongoDB for web and backend; and .NET MAUI for mobile migration. We also leverage AWS, Docker, and Jenkins for cloud operations and DevOps, Auth0 for identity management, and Power BI for reporting.

One of the most complex technical challenges was the successful automation of the Accounts Payable (AP) workflow, which required the integration and development of AI capabilities to handle complex financial tasks. This challenge was overcome by implementing pioneering functionalities such as automatic splitting and processing of invoice PDF files, using AI Integrity for automatic coding of Management Accounts, and automating EFT payments. These achievements digitized and streamlined a manual Accounts Payable process, drastically reducing operational latency and eliminating human errors in financial coding.

The Team Vibe: What makes your project team unique?

The team working on this project demonstrates a culture oriented towards rapid delivery, deep collaboration, and embracing complex technical challenges. We are structured to maximize innovation and direct impact on the client’s business.

Our dynamic is defined by cross-functional agility, with complementary roles (Frontend, Backend, Data Scientist, UX Designer, Project Manager) covering the entire development cycle. We maintain close collaboration both internally and with the client’s teams, which is essential for seamless integration. What makes us unique is our speed to market, demonstrated by developing an aggregator for their business’ core in just weeks. Our strategic alignment allows us to not just execute tasks, but to help them become an AI centric company.

Last but not least, we made use of the across-borders distributed expertise of GL in order to ramp up 20+ team member workstreams in a matter of weeks. Making use of such rapid response became one of the pillars that defined the “Acceleration Roadmap Lab”. The Lab joins experts from Latin America, UK and Central Eastern Europe.

Project Takeaway: The most valuable skill you’ve gained?

The most valuable competency gained in this project is the expertise of integrating Generative AI as a direct business process transformation engine in the client specialized business field. This emphasizes the need for deep knowledge of specific workflows, like document processing and financial operations, to effectively apply AI tools (such as Langfuse), automating complex tasks and creating scalable solutions that bring a direct competitive advantage to the client.

Advice from the Frontlines: Advice for new team members?

To succeed in this environment, you must develop a dual perspective. Do not solely focus on coding, rather; understand the specific customer workflows to ensure your technology delivers measurable value.Prioritize building a solid foundation first, by consistent self-actualization. On a daily basis one makes indeed use of long dreamt innovation, but be also prepared to tackle modernization and to fix architectural vulnerabilities. You must also proactively embrace new technologies and learn cutting-edge tools, as this is essential for turning basic AI models into reliable business solutions. Finally, focus on rapid delivery to achieve tangible results quickly; delivering a working MVP demonstrates value early and validates your strategic direction.
