When one of GlobalLogic’s engineers noticed an increase in the amount of garbage left behind by visitors to the Carpathian Mountains, he began thinking about how he could use technology to “crowdsource” trail clean-up activities — and thus was born the EcoHike mobile app.
The EcoHike app enables users to mark polluted areas on an interactive map and add a description and photos of the problem. Other users can see the marked problem areas, clean them up, and then update that area’s status on the map. The app also allows organizations and individuals to create interactive clean-up events and invite other participants to join via social media.
