A critical part of this journey involves enhancing efficiency across every aspect of the organization. To drive these efforts, the client engaged GlobalLogic to improve the company’s digital maturity and accelerate software delivery performance.

Challenges

A key underlying problem was the lack of visibility across the large digital development community of 10,000+ engineers. Engineers were working in silos across 3000+ products, which led to significant duplication of efforts. Our analysis revealed:

Lack of technology standardization: Over 100 vendors were using different technologies, frameworks, and tools, leading to inconsistent development and high costs.
Inconsistent product quality: Product quality varied significantly across vendors.
Unmanaged licensing: The client sought to streamline operations by standardizing licensing practices with selected vendors.

Value Created

GlobalLogic began by helping the client measure its current digital maturity. Once the assessment was complete, we focused on creating a standardized and automated internal developer platform to support software engineering teams companywide. Here’s what we accomplished:

Adapted the industry standard model from Google’s DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) team to fit the client’s needs.
Measured the client’s current digital maturity, achieving a baseline maturity for each product.
Built a roadmap of capability improvements and defined standards around these capabilities.
Established a developer enablement team to create golden paths, boilerplate and sample applications, reusable infrastructure components, and how-to guides to help teams on the digital maturity journey.
Created an education program for all software and platform engineers, including regional workshops on topics like observability and testing.
