-RAN Test Engineer Wireless (5+ Years Experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Test Engineer with 5–7 years of experience in
both manual and automation testing of gNodeB product code. The ideal candidate will have
hands-on expertise in validating Layer 2/Layer 3 components of the 5G NR protocol stack and
should be proficient in building or maintaining Java-based automation frameworks. This is a
critical role ensuring the quality and reliability of our 5G RAN solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
● Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for 5G gNodeB
(RAN) features
● 5 – 7 years of experience in QA/testing of 4G/5G wireless network products, especially
gNodeB
● Strong hands-on knowledge of 3GPP NR protocols and message flows (Layer 2/3)
● Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, or similar.
● Familiarity with simulators and test tools like Keysight/Viavi/TTCN/QXDM
● Perform end-to-end testing using commercial UEs (smartphones, CPEs, IoT
devices) to validate gNodeB functionality and user-plane performance
● Conduct mobility, throughput, handover, and interoperability testing with real UEs
under various radio and network conditions
● Perform validation of L2/L3 protocols such as MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC, and NGAP
● Analyze logs from UE-side tools (e.g., QXDM, QCAT, TEMS) and gNodeB-side traces for
debugging and root cause analysis
● Develop, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks using Java
● Execute regression, functional, integration, and system tests on 5G RAN systems
● Work closely with development and system teams to understand features and test
requirements
● Analyze test results, log defects, and perform root-cause analysis in coordination
with developers
● Simulate traffic and mobility scenarios to evaluate protocol robustness and
performance
● Use tools such as Wireshark, log analyzers, and signal trace decoders for debugging
and validation
● Work with Field Testing teams to execute drive tests and real-world scenario
validation in lab and pre-commercial environments
Nice to Have
● Hands-on experience with O-RAN, vRAN, or container-based RAN deployments
● Experience in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab) for automated test execution
● Knowledge of mobile network architecture and interfaces (NG, Xn, F1, etc.)
● Experience working in Agile/Scrum development models
