Description

Our iOS team is at the heart of delivering a world-class, large-scale mobile experience to millions of users. We are on a mission to evolve our application, ensuring it is reliable, performant, and delightful to use. Quality is a core pillar of our development process, and our engineering team is dedicated to building robust, scalable, and future-proof solutions for an enterprise-level product.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for software quality and test engineering to join our iOS team. In this critical role, you will own the stability and quality of our application by leading the migration of our testing frameworks, eliminating flakiness, and developing new test cases for our modernization efforts.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who is comfortable diving deep into code, interpreting ambiguous business requirements, refactoring complex test setups, and collaborating with a team of dedicated engineers to solve challenging problems. You will be a key contributor to our “Shift-Left” strategy, ensuring quality is built-in from the start.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise software development, with a strong focus on quality assurance, test automation, or as a Software Engineer in Test (SDET).
  • Expert-level programming proficiency in Objective-C.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining large-scale iOS applications.
  • In-depth experience with mobile application testing (iOS or Android) and automated testing frameworks.
  • Expert debugging skills.
  • Experience working in Linux, BSD, or UNIX environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience with iOS test automation frameworks (e.g., XCTest) and other internal frameworks.
  • Strong programming experience in Swift.
  • A strong track record of migrating and refactoring large-scale test suites, with a focus on improving maintainability and reducing flakiness.
  • Expertise in debugging complex test failures and troubleshooting CI/CD pipeline issues.
  • Experience with iOS development and familiarity with debugging complex UI interactions, including webViews.
  • Strong tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to work independently on loosely defined tasks.

Job responsibilities

  • Test Migration & Architecture: Lead the strategic migration of legacy app-level tests to modern, component-level tests. This includes refactoring existing tests, creating shared setups to reduce redundancy, and strategically removing obsolete tests.
  • Test Refactoring & Deflaking: Proactively identify, debug, and resolve test flakiness across the suite. Implement, migrate, and maintain large-scale application unit tests, ensuring they are robust and “future-proof” for our CI/CD pipeline.
  • Design and Strategy: Interpret business and functional requirements into a strong technical design. Apply industry best practices and standards in conjunction with project requirements.
  • Quality Assurance & Bug Fixing: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues that block test reproducibility, such as screenshot rendering errors, text alignment problems, and unsupported attachment handling.
  • New Feature & Component Testing: Actively contribute to our application modernization efforts by developing and implementing new, Swift-based tests for modernized UI components.
  • Test Infrastructure Development: Create necessary test objects and fakes (e.g., mock objects and fakes) to complement new features and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Address and resolve critical blockers for “Shift-Left” initiatives, including issues with asynchronous UI elements and attachment upload services. Investigate and debug complex interactions between test frameworks, JS webViews, and system alerts.
  • Code Review & Collaboration: Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to colleagues. Work closely with other developers, project managers, database administrators, and QA teams.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements/efficiencies and drive adoption of high-priority enhancements within the team.
