Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded QA / IoT Testing Engineer to join us and take part in a project focused on testing a custom Linux-based embedded platform and its ecosystem.
The team is involved in an international initiative delivering bespoke embedded systems and applications for next-generation multimedia IoT devices.
The project aims to create a new multimedia platform based on custom Linux distributions. You will be a key part of the QA team responsible for validating system-level components and applications—defining high-level test strategies, driving test planning, and focusing heavily on hardware/software integration, stability, performance, load, and stress testing to eliminate bottlenecks and system crashes. Requirements
Must have:
- Strong experience in embedded hardware/software and IoT device testing
- Proven ability to define test strategies, author comprehensive test plans, and establish QA standards for complex embedded systems
- Leadership skills to drive QA initiatives, mentor engineers, and take ownership of quality processes across teams
- Experience with Linux-based embedded devices (from a development, system, or deep testing perspective)
- Solid knowledge of Python scripting for test automation and tool development
- Fluency in Linux shell: navigation, basic commands & operations, understanding of syntax & conventions
- Hands-on experience with Bash scripting
- Very good English language skills, at least B2 (both written and spoken)
- Strong analytical skills, ‘can-connect-the-dots’ approach to system troubleshooting
Nice-to-have (winning skills):
- Good understanding of at least one mid-range wireless technology (e.g., LoRaWAN, Zigbee, Thread, or similar)
- Experience working with physical and network interfaces (e.g., UART, USB, IP, or similar)
- Hands-on experience in performance, stress, and load testing of embedded Linux components
- Familiarity with Android devices, ADB, or Android Applications Development
Job responsibilities
- Drive quality assurance initiatives and lead the overall test strategy and test planning for the embedded platform
- Design, implement, and deploy automated and system tests for embedded/IoT devices under conditions mimicking real-world end-user operation
- Design and execute test automation solutions for custom Linux system software and applications under development
- Perform embedded system performance monitoring and stability testing under load and stress conditions
- Monitor hardware and software subsystems for memory leaks, crashes, or performance bottlenecks
- Identify, isolate, log, and track embedded system defects, hardware/software integration issues, and general performance malfunctions
