Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco networking technologies and AWS cloud networking to lead and execute the migration of on‑premises and Cisco‑based network infrastructure into AWS. This role will be responsible for designing, building, securing, and operating hybrid and cloud‑native network architectures while modernizing legacy Cisco environments.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with Cisco firewalls, routing/switching, VPNs, and BGP, combined with strong practical knowledge of AWS VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and cloud security controls.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience as a Network Engineer, with strong Cisco networking background.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing and supporting AWS networking.
- Deep expertise in Cisco routing and switching, including BGP and OSPF.
- Strong experience with Cisco firewalls (ASA, FTD, ASAv/FTDv) and VPN technologies.
- Solid understanding of AWS VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and Elastic Load Balancing.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in production environments.
- Experience migrating large‑scale enterprise networks from Cisco to AWS.
- Hands‑on experience with Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with container networking (EKS, Kubernetes CNI).
- AWS and/or Cisco certifications such as:
– AWS Advanced Networking – Specialty
– CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security
Job responsibilities
Cisco to AWS Migration
- Lead network migration initiatives from Cisco on‑premises and datacenter environments to AWS.
- Assess existing Cisco architectures (ASA/FTD, routers, switches) and define migration strategies to AWS‑native or virtualized equivalents (ASAv/FTDv, Transit Gateway, AWS Network Firewall).
- Migrate and validate ACLs, NAT rules, VPNs (Site‑to‑Site and Client VPN), and routing policies in AWS.
AWS Networking & Hybrid Connectivity
- Design and implement AWS VPC architectures, including CIDR planning, subnets, routing tables, gateways (IGW/NAT), and security boundaries.
- Build and operate hybrid connectivity using Site‑to‑Site VPN and AWS Direct Connect with BGP and high availability.
- Implement Transit Gateway architectures for large‑scale, multi‑account environments.
Network Security & Compliance
- Deploy and manage Cisco firewalls (ASA, FTD, ASAv/FTDv) and/or AWS‑native security services.
- Implement network security best practices using security groups, NACLs, and logging (VPC Flow Logs).
- Support compliance initiatives (SOC, PCI, HIPAA where applicable) through secure network design and documentation.
Automation, Operations & Troubleshooting
- Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation) to standardize and automate network deployments.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across Layer 3–7 in hybrid and cloud environments.
- Leverage AWS tooling such as Reachability Analyzer, CloudWatch, and traffic monitoring to ensure network reliability.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational documentation.
