Our customer builds a large, layered ecosystem for smart devices, covering the entire stack from chip to application. The core OS is based on Linux, then extended with several functional layers in C++/Rust, then exposing a JS-ready layer for app development. The user-facing apps are built in JavaScript (React Native).
The edge between the native OS and the JS applications is based on the HermesJS engine – an engine that improves the start-up time and reduces memory footprint thanks to ahead-of-time static optimizations and translation of JS code to bytecode.

Requirements
– deep knowledge of JS and C/C++ for mobile devices/apps, ideally React Native.
– deep and practical knowledge of compilers, byte code translations, JS to bytecode, bytecode to LLVM/native,
– knowledge of ahead-of-time compilation, JIT, virtual machines
– knowledge of HermesJS or similar engines (eg. JavaScriptCore, V8)
The goal of the initiative is to optimize how React Native code is translated to a native processor code on a given platform. Knowledge of RN precompilation mechanics (translation of RN code to byte code, HermesJS, V8, …) and knowledge of LLVM are winning criteria.
Job responsibilities
We are searching for an experienced software engineer who is able to address the compilation performance challenges.
Both practical and deep theoretical knowledge is a must, reflected by a respective degree in this domain, contribution to existing open source projects, and proven experience in similar initiatives. It is expected that the candidate already has meaningful engineering experience in compilers and similar domains.
