Our Client is a leading international financial services organization operating in the insurance sector and delivering technology solutions that support a large-scale global business. As part of a high-performing engineering organization, you will contribute to the development and modernization of enterprise platforms, customer-facing services, and cloud-native solutions.
As a Java Software Engineer, you will join the client’s engineering team and work across a variety of strategic initiatives, ranging from platform transformation to the development of new digital capabilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, helping to build scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must be currently located in Ireland and have the right to work there.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- Strong experience with Java and object-oriented design principles
- Experience developing enterprise applications using Java EE, Microservices, and modern software engineering practices
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments
- Experience with build and deployment tools such as Maven, Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
- Understanding of scalable, highly available application architectures
- Experience working in Agile development teams (Scrum/Kanban)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Professional level of English
Nice to Have
- Java certifications (OCA, OCP, OCM)
- Experience with JavaScript or Angular
- Knowledge of GraphQL
- Experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, and RDS
- Experience building cloud-native applications
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps principles
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior team members
Job responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications and services
- Contribute to multiple projects and technology initiatives within the client’s engineering portfolio
- Develop scalable and reliable software solutions using modern Java technologies and microservices architecture
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects, and fellow engineers to deliver business value
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and support
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with engineering best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support the adoption of cloud-native technologies, automation, and modern engineering standards
