Description
Environment: Embedded within a product team responsible for the end-to-end operation and continuous evolution of its own applications and infrastructure, leveraging a centralized GCP platform.
Languages: Fluent English is required; professional proficiency in German is a plus.
Requirements
Professional Experience: 3–5+ years of proven experience in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering environment.
GCP Expertise: In-depth technical knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem (GKE, Cloud Run, IAM, VPC, DNS, Load Balancing, Secret Manager).
Terraform Proficiency: Hands-on experience using Terraform in production-grade environments (modular repositories, multi-environment setups, Plan/Apply within automated CI/CD workflows).
Kubernetes Fundamentals: Solid understanding of Kubernetes orchestration, specifically networking, Ingress, RBAC, Operators, and storage.
CI/CD Automation: Track record of designing and operating deployment pipelines within GitLab.
Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting capability (Shell, Bash); proficiency in Golang is highly advantageous.
Networking Knowledge: A foundational understanding of enterprise network protocols and topology.
Observability: Familiarity with modern enterprise monitoring and logging stacks (e.g., Datadog, GCP Monitoring/Logging).
Availability: Excellent English communication skills and a willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
Job responsibilities
Infrastructure Engineering: Build, operate, and continuously develop the product team’s dedicated infrastructure on the GCP platform.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement and maintain scalable infrastructure utilizing Terraform (leveraging centrally managed modules and automated pipelines).
CI/CD Pipeline Management: Establish and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines for applications using GitLab CI/CD.
Kubernetes Orchestration: Manage core Kubernetes resources (including deployments, RBAC, networking, policies, and upgrades) and oversee Helm releases.
Platform Component Integration: Seamlessly integrate and utilize core platform services (e.g., logging, secrets management, IAM, VPC, DNS).
Security & Compliance: Enforce secure-by-default standards across all layers, including identity management (IAM), secrets, networking, TLS, and organizational policies.
Day-to-Day Operations: Provide operational support, including incident response, proactive infrastructure maintenance, and performance bottleneck analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the centralized platform engineering team to align on shared Terraform modules and governance policies.
