We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, full-lifecycle digital engineering projects, specialising in Data Cloud Platform implementations and ensuring successful delivery within Agile Fix-Price contracts.

The ideal candidate is a senior delivery leader with proven expertise in managing complex. This role requires a strong understanding of how to balance the Agile methodology’s flexibility with the stringent scope and budget controls of a Fix-Price model. You will be responsible for defining the Minimum Marketable Features (MMF), rigorously managing scope creep, and accurately forecasting the effort required for Data, Backend, and Cloud Platform workstreams.

This role combines delivery governance, financial control, and technical alignment, focusing on predictable delivery and margin protection in a challenging, fixed-scope environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software delivery, including 5+ years in technical Project or Program Management roles for external clients.
  • Mandatory proven experience managing complex, multi-phase Fix-Price or Fixed-Scope contracts, including robust change control and financial tracking (EAC, Burn Rate).
  • Deep expertise in adapting Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) to the constraints of a Fixed-Price delivery model (e.g., controlling sprint backlog, freezing scope after MMF definition).
  • Proven experience managing large-scale Data, Cloud, or Platform Engineering projects (e.g., Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Cloud Migrations on Azure/AWS/GCP).
  • Strong understanding of the data lifecycle and potential risks in data-heavy projects (data quality, schema evolution, backfill strategies).
  • Hands-on experience with project financial management, forecasting, invoicing milestones, and managing project profitability/margin.
  • Familiarity with modern SDLC tooling (Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar) used for detailed scope and effort tracking.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, particularly in dealing with client scope changes and contract negotiations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in managing projects utilising technologies like Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Databricks, or advanced AI/ML components.
  • Experience in a consulting or System Integrator (SI) environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing globally distributed and hybrid (internal/vendor) delivery teams.

Fix-Price & Financial Governance

  • Scope & Contract Rigor: Enforce stringent Change Control processes for the fixed scope. Proactively identify and manage scope creep, ensuring all changes are documented, estimated, and converted into formal change requests (CRs) with client sign-off.
  • Financial Control: Own the project’s financial health, including meticulous tracking of the Estimate at Completion (EAC), burn rate, and utilization. Drive accurate revenue recognition based on milestone achievement.
  • Risk & Contingency Management: Establish and manage the project’s contingency budget and buffer. Ensure critical risks (technical debt, data complexity, resource churn) are quantified financially.

Project Leadership & Agile Delivery

  • Hybrid Delivery Model: Customize and govern the Agile process (e.g., Scrum of Scrums) to operate effectively within the Fixed-Price boundary. Ensure engineering teams maintain velocity while respecting the final scope definition.
  • Workstream Coordination: Lead cross-functional workstreams (Data Ingestion, Cloud Infrastructure, APIs, Reporting) to maintain alignment and manage critical dependencies.
  • Definition of Done: Define and enforce strict Definition of Done (DoD) criteria, especially for data assets and platform components, to minimize rework and control costs.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of accountability to the client for delivery against the contract. Conduct formal status reviews covering scope, budget, and timeline (the triple constraint).
  • Expectation Alignment: Proactively manage client expectations, especially concerning the prioritization of work within the fixed scope and time.
  • Vendor/Partner Management: If applicable, coordinate delivery efforts with external vendors, aligning their milestones, deliverables, and quality assurance with the main contract.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Metric-Driven Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to Fix-Price delivery, such as Defect Density, Team Velocity, and Variance from Baseline.
  • Lessons Learned: Champion continuous improvement by ensuring formal “lessons learned” and technical retrospectives are captured and applied to future Fixed-Price estimations and contracts.
