Description

We are developing an AI-enabled product in regulated healthcare that combines data, clinical knowledge, and advanced machine learning to deliver safe and valuable outcomes. The solution operates on enterprise cloud/data platforms under strict privacy, security, and compliance frameworks. The AI Architect ensures architectural integrity, scalability, and alignment with business, clinical, and regulatory needs, partnering with multi-geo engineering, data/AI, and compliance teams from discovery through validation and release.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years in software engineering with 4+ years in AI/ML solution design and delivery
  • Proven track record architecting AI/ML systems from prototype to production in Azure environments
  • Deep expertise in Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and related Azure offerings
  • Strong foundation in core ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and data querying languages (SQL)
  • Proficient in Python for POCs, prototyping, and guiding teams in implementation
  • Experience with MLOps practices, pipelines, and lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with regulated domains (medical devices, pharma, finance)
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge technical, clinical, and business stakeholders
  • Ability to evaluate new technologies, develop POCs, and guide technical decision-making
  • Preferred: experience with conversational AI, reinforcement learning, or AI safety methods
  • English: fluent (B2+) spoken and written; all communication and documentation in English.
  • Comfortable with regular overlap with US time zones for meetings.

    Nice to have:

  • Solid understanding of security, privacy, and compliance requirements (HIPAA/GDPR or equivalent)

Job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end AI architecture for the healthcare initiative, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance
  • Define reference architectures, technology choices, and integration patterns across cloud, data, and application layers
  • Translate business, clinical, and regulatory requirements into system and AI design specifications
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, Data Scientists, Engineers, Regulatory, and Clinical teams to shape solution scope
  • Establish standards for data ingestion, processing, model training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining
  • Guide technical teams in implementing AI safety guardrails, explainability, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure architecture supports discovery, build, and validation phases
    Phase 1 (Discovery/Research): evaluate data readiness, define architecture blueprint, validate compliance and security requirements
    Phase 2 (Build/Development): oversee model integration, platform setup, MLOps pipeline, scalability and interoperability testing
    Next phases: support verification and validation, audits, beta deployment, and performance monitoring
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and best practices across engineering and data teams
  • Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders and executives
