Description

We are launching a new project, starting with a 2-month discovery phase, focused on processing telemetry and log data from drones and robots. The goal of this phase is to build a data-processing pipeline capable of translating raw vendor-specific drone logs (for example from DJI) into precise geographic coordinates that pinpoint anomalies. This will allow our maintenance teams to reach the exact location in the field and address issues with high accuracy.

After this discovery phase, the solution may be extended to full-scale operations — offering a unique opportunity to shape a core part of our data architecture from the ground up.

We’re seeking a highly skilled AWS Serverless Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data pipeline that will transform raw telemetry from multiple drone and robot vendors into a unified, analyzable format.

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS data services: S3, Lambda, Glue — and practical experience with Amazon DynamoDB.
• Strong programming skills in Python, especially for data manipulation and serverless function development.
• Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT design, data transformation, validation, and quality assurance.
• Proven ability to integrate and translate diverse vendor data formats (e.g. JSON, XML, custom binaries) into a consistent internal format.
• Good understanding of serverless architectures, and best practices for building secure, cost-effective, and highly available data workflows on AWS.
• Experience working with spatial data, coordinate systems, and geolocation libraries or logic.

Job responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Lambda and AWS Glue to process large volumes of raw data stored in S3.
• Develop vendor-specific postprocessing modules (‘interpreters/bridges’) to decode diverse telemetric, aerial and multimedia data models.
• Define and implement a clean, normalized unified data model to standardize outputs across vendors.
• Efficiently store normalized data in services such as AWS S3 and Amazon DynamoDB, optimizing for query performance and cost.
• Implement geolocation logic to compute precise geographic positions of detected anomalies, using vendor-provided metadata (in cases where direct API data is unavailable).
