Job responsibilities

A Hardware Owner is a role within a product development organization responsible for overseeing the design, development, and lifecycle management of hardware products. They will act as the key decision-maker for hardware architecture, prioritizing and managing the product backlog to ensure customer-centric solutions. Act as a «voice of the hardware» within the development team, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and business goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Strategic and Operational Leadership:
Overall strategic and operational responsibility for the hardware, including analyzing customer needs, future demands, technical aspects, production, delivery, implementation, and development.

Product Backlog Management:

Responsible for prioritizing and managing the product backlog, ensuring that the most valuable work is done first. This includes developing and communicating the product goal, creating and clearly communicating product backlog items, and ordering the backlog.

Hardware Architecture:

They are responsible for making key decisions regarding hardware architecture, ensuring it meets technical requirements and business needs.
Customer-Centric Solutions:
The Hardware Owner works to deliver customer-centric solutions by understanding user needs and pain points.

Collaboration and Communication:
They collaborate with various teams, including product management, engineering, and sales, to ensure a seamless delivery and meet customer expectations.

Lifecycle Management:

Oversees the entire hardware product lifecycle, from design and development to production, implementation, and beyond.

Technical Guidance:
They provide technical guidance and mentorship to the hardware teams.

Quality and Performance:
Ensure that the hardware meets required quality and performance standards.

Risk Mitigation:
Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges related to hardware development.

Continuous Improvement:
The Hardware Owner drives continuous improvement in hardware development processes and practices.
