Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• COBOL: Extensive experience in COBOL programming within mainframe environments.
• Mainframe Technologies: Strong knowledge of JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• COBOL Versions: Good knowledge of different COBOL versions, including migration (e.g., from COBOL-85 to COBOL-2002).
• SDLC: Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle.
• Testing & Debugging: Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for critical systems.
• Agile/DevOps: Experience working in Agile environments and/or with DevOps principles.
• Communication: Ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and maintain complex COBOL applications and subsystems.
• Analyze business requirements, estimate effort, and translate specifications into working solutions.
• Migrate COBOL programs across versions and platforms (e.g., COBOL-85 to COBOL-2002).
• Develop and execute test plans to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with analysts, testers, project managers, and cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives involving automation and generative AI.
