In-train diagnostic software development project calls for a Senior C Linux Engineer 

Requirements

An exciting project for developing high-performance system diagnostic software is seeking a Senior C Linux Engineer. This software will be deployed on a new appliance installed in trains from one of the world’s leading train manufacturers.

It’s required to have:

• Proficiency in C
• Proficiency in Linux programming, especially system software.
• Deep understanding of Linux architecture, specifically gpsd, chrony, linuxptp services, NetworkManager and ModemManager. Solid experience with D-Bus API.
• Good understanding of network topologies, routing, and the full UDP/TCP/IP stack.
• Experience programming lightweight C-based webservers (e.g., Civetweb) and comfort with asynchronous/concurrent programming model
• Proficiency in asynchronous and concurrent programming, including, but not limited to, custom implementations of high-performance messaging solutions. 
• Fluent English

Experience with Linux kernel programming is an advantage. Knowledge of SNMP is a plus.

You will be responsible for developing high-performance system diagnostic software, architecture decisions, implementation of custom high-performance messaging solutions (asynchronous/concurrent programming), integration and configuration of specific Linux services such as gpsd, chrony, and linuxptp.

Job responsibilities

Develop a high-performance system diagnostic software. Architect and implement custom high-performance messaging solutions (asynchronous/concurrent programming). Lead technical decisions regarding OS hardening and assist the customer with security implementation. Integrate and configure specific Linux services such as gpsd, chrony, and linuxptp.
