Today we’re doing things a little differently, and we’ve written about our top five pieces of tech news below. Enjoy…
Best Fintech ecosystems
The UK and Sweden have emerged as the best Fintech ecosystems in Europe.
A McKinsey study found the two countries are now leading for the size of their respective fintech industry, fintech funding, the number of unicorns and fintech workforces.
Investment into clean energy essential
Our Trade Secretary has set out a plan to ‘future-proof the UK economy’.
She has called investment in clean energy tech “the force that will help us create a better tomorrow”, revealing her three-pronged approach to using trade to ensure the UK is ready to tackle crucial global challenges.
Plans to revolutionise the grid
National Grid has invested $20m in three smart tech start-ups.
The corporate venture and innovation arm of National Grid is providing the funding for Exodigo, Sensat and Visionary.ai to help transform the grid through the use of their technologies – this will transform the way utilities and other organisations manage vast physical infrastructure.
New satellites for OneWeb
OneWeb has successfully added 36 new LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites to its constellation.
This will bring the company one step closer to not only enhancing global coverage but also delivering connectivity in India and South Asia, particularly to the communities who need it most.
Plans to audit TikTok?
We’ve been hearing for years how TikTok hoovers up data globally and presents it to its parent company in China.
Now although the US won’t ban the app, TechCrunch has released an article discussing how the government might look to subject TikTok’s source code, user data and more to regular audits.
