Senior/Lead QA Automation Engineer (Cypress Expert) IRC294081

Description

We are seeking a seasoned QA Automation Leader to spearhead our strategic migration from a Python-based automation framework to a modern Cypress + TypeScript ecosystem.

Our engineering team has already begun the transition, but we are looking for a true Cypress specialist, someone who has “been there, done that”, to establish best practices, architect scalable test suites, and mentor the team through this evolution.

Job Description

• At least 6 years of relevant commercial experience in QA Automation with a heavy focus on web technologies.
• Expert knowledge of Cypress and its internal architecture, including custom commands, plugins, and intercepting network requests.
• Expert knowledge of TypeScript
• Deep understanding of the Page Object Model (POM) or modern Cypress patterns to ensure scalable test architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD integration, specifically optimizing Cypress runs via parallelization and orchestration tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
• Experience building and maintaining API automation using Cypress for end-to-end integration testing.

Job responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of our new Cypress-based framework, ensuring it is modular, maintainable, and optimized for CI/CD.
• Lead the effort to transition critical test coverage from Python (Playwright) to TypeScript-based Cypress tests without losing quality momentum.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert (SME), conducting code reviews and leveling up the team’s TypeScript and Cypress proficiency.
• Implement advanced Cypress strategies (Parallelization, Dashboard integration, API mocking) to keep build times low and developer feedback loops fast.
• Refine our testing culture by integrating automation into the core of the SDLC and advocating for “shift-left” testing methodologies.
