About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our telecom transformation team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in schema-level assessment, compatibility validation, and performance planning during subscriber and billing data migration programs across telecom BSS/OSS systems.
The role involves working closely with solution architects, data migration leads, and engineering teams to support large-scale CRM and billing transformations. A strong understanding of telecom domain data structures, rollback strategies, and performance tuning is essential.
Additionally, the role requires hands-on experience with third-party migration/ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, GoldenGate, DMS).

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in telecom IT systems, with a strong focus on database administration, schema design, and performance engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with major databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB) used in telecom BSS/OSS systems.
  • Strong knowledge of replication and migration tools (GoldenGate, DMS, Debezium, Informatica, Talend).
  • Proven experience handling large-scale data volumes (multi-terabyte/petabyte scale) during subscriber migrations.
  • Proven hands-on expertise supporting large-scale subscriber and billing data migrations across platforms like Amdocs Ensemble/C1, Netcracker, and Siebel CRM.
  • Deep understanding of TM Forum SID models, telecom data structures, and billing/CRM architecture.
  • Strong experience in schema-level issue resolution, rollback design, capacity and performance planning, and versioned migration (SCD) ractices.
  • Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL, Python, and Bash scripting with real-world experience in telecom-grade data profiling, transformation, and STTM (source-to-target mapping).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP in managing telecom infrastructure and databases.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 6+ years of DBA experience in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Shell/Bash is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with schema migrations, data replication tools, and DB backup/recovery strategies.

Job responsibilities

  • Perform detailed schema assessment, compatibility checks, and mapping validation between legacy and target systems for subscriber and billing data migration.
  • Design and implement capacity planning, partitioning, indexing, and performance optimization strategies to handle high-volume subscriber migrations.
  • Develop and validate rollback, contingency, and recovery mechanisms for migration and cutover phases.
Troubleshoot and resolve schema-level issues including indexes, triggers, stored procedures, and constraints during migration dry runs and cutovers.
  • Collaborate with migration teams to support versioned migrations (SCD), STTM, and transformation logic execution.
Provide database-side support for data profiling, cleansing, enrichment, and impact analysis to align with BSS/OSS subscriber and billing models.
  • Configure and manage database connectivity, drivers, and schema mappings for migration tools such as Informatica, Talend, Oracle GoldenGate, and AWS DMS.
  • Monitor and tune database performance during high-throughput ETL/migration jobs, ensuring optimal usage of resources like CPU, memory, partitions, and indexes.
  • Work closely with ETL & Infromatica developers to optimize SQL overrides, staging schema designs, bulk loading strategies, and parallel execution plans.
  • Implement Change Data Capture (CDC), replication, and delta load strategies for near real-time subscriber/billing migrations.
  • Develop and run database-level reconciliation checks (row counts, referential integrity validation, sampling queries) to ensure data quality across legacy and target systems.
  • Contribute to cutover planning, mock migration dry runs, rollback rehearsals, and readiness assessments to reduce production risks.
  • Ensure strong PII/PCI compliance and data security with encryption, masking, and access controls in ETL/migration pipelines.
  • Automate and integrate database health checks, migration dashboards, and cutover monitoring scripts for proactive issue resolution.
  • Support data archival, purging, and retention policies as per regulatory and compliance requirements (GDPR, TRAI, CPNI).
  • Participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and database recovery during migration-related production events.
  • Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and infrastructure teams for database integration with ETL pipelines, CI/CD frameworks, and containerized/cloud deployments.
  • Enforce database and schema standards across migration environments, ensuring alignment with ongoing development and operational teams.
