Job Summary
Senior Agilists serve as agile leaders for the organization, defining the best practices for agile methodologies at the product / team level and coaching Agilists across teams; They confirm product level visioning and planning activities are rooted in agile principles and enable the organization to consistently experiment and evolve business strategy to achieve product objectives
o Facilitation of product level agile events, workshops, and coaching sessions
o Product level documentation of agile methodologies, templates, and outputs
o Product delivery metrics & health reports
o Product agile maturity & continuous improvement plans
o Start up / transform a Large Product (team of teams) integrating the delivery of several Agile Teams
o Lead Product-level aspects of the wider transformation and continuous improvement

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience
• Operational knowledge of large Agile programs (5+ Agile Teams) and specific methods (SAFe, LeSS, DAD, Nexus…) and practices
• Master at running program-level operations
• Able to articulate and pursue the transformation vision for the Product, based on its needs, challenges and opportunities within the Portfolio context
• Master Product facilitation, including Agile Teams breakdown, integration with other Product teams and the Product start-up process
• Proficient Value Stream Mapping and Management, improving value delivery
• Master continuous improvement skills
• Master cross-team facilitator
• Able to coach Product Managers, Engineering Managers, business stakeholders and other Agilists (like Scrum Masters) on how to become an effective team of teams and organize for value delivery
• Master level Agile Team Coach / Scrum Master / Kanban facilitation skills
• 4+ years Agile transformation and facilitation experience, working at Agile Team level (Product / Agile Release Train level experience is a plus)
• Played Scrum Master / Team Coach roles transforming several Kanban and / or Agile Teams at all stages from inception to maturity, achieving sustainable delivery and speed
• Facilitated an established Product / Agile Release Train (initiating a new Agile Release Train is a plus)
• Facilitated and led Product level delivery using Kanban
• Coached managers and other organizational leaders (senior stakeholder coaching is a plus – director level and above)
• Successfully facilitated multi-team workshops and change processes
• Led cross-team change initiatives
• Successfully coached other facilitators and change agents (e.g. Scrum Masters)

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
• Lead the transformation and execution of a Product (team of teams)
• Be a member of the Product Leadership Team (PLT)
• Successfully apply the standards set for our Products, identifying proactively change opportunities in the systems and standards
• Help the Product team navigate the complexity of the Portfolio and integrate within it
• Collaborate with the Portfolio Leadership to enable Portfolio and Product success
• Coach Team-level Agilists, like Scrum Masters, in effective team facilitation
• Coach Product Managers in effective Work Intake and Backlog management techniques
• Lead the Agile Teams within their Product in successful Product delivery and coordination
• Lead the PLT adapting the Agile Team structure to enable reliable and fast product delivery
• Articulate and make visible the Product impediments and the improvements needed to overcome them
• Articulate and make visible the risks to the Product plans and lead the team formulating adequate responses to them
• Seek mentoring and coaching from more experienced Lean-Agile practitioners
• Support and mentor less experienced practitioners, like Scrum Masters and Kanban Service Delivery Managers
• Aligned and focused Product execution (team of teams)
• End-to-end Product integration at all levels: vision, objectives, planning, development, testing, delivery, deployment and operations
• Continuous improvement driven by Objectives and Key Results
• Successfully mentored and coached multiple Scrum Masters, proven by the improvements brought up in their agile teams
• Transparent program tracking/reporting showing value delivered and working SW as main measures of progress
• Proactive identification of impediments, coordination of the response and escalation to external organizations when required
Product Strategy, Vision, and Planning
• Owns the agile practices (e.g., methodology, values, principles) of the product including cross-product impacts, planning, objectives and key results in partnership with Product Managers
• Enables the product to consistently experiment and evolve strategy based on prior outcomes and feedback loops
• Provides regular communication to product stakeholders for transparency and awareness of outcomes and impediments; communicates key information and agile updates to leadership
• Defines agile best practices for product strategy and planning activities including product roadmaps, OKRs, PI planning, and collaboration
• Coaches Product Managers and Agilists at the product team level on agile ways of working, best practices, and mindset to support product management routines and build expertise across the product
• Serves as a transformational advocate who fosters the agile & product mindsets and challenges the status quo across their product and associated product teams
Product Design and Development
• Works with Agilists at the team level to check that teams are staffed, persistent, and have the roles / skills required to achieve product objectives
• Partners with the Product Manager to confirm work is consistently scoped, planned, and prioritized in the product roadmap and communicated effectively to the Product Owners and teams
• Owns product level agile events and practices to support cross-product prioritization and connections via product roadmaps, dependencies, and working across siloes such as PI planning, Product syncs, and quarterly business reviews
• Manages risks and dependencies within the Product and across other Products to improve delivery and execution and manage the flow of value
• Manages and simplifies governance, audit and evidence aspects of delivering product work in support of the product roadmaps and business objectives in partnership with the Product Manager and Risk & Compliance
Performance Measurement and Optimization
• Creates and executes agile surveys and retrospectives at the product level which inform agile roadmaps, to gain maturity in ways of working across the product/teams
• Establishes and monitors product level agile metrics to improve the discovery and delivery of the product related to customer outcomes and continuous improvement
