Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Python Engineer to join a newly formed Scrum team. This role involves developing and enhancing the core backend services that power the document parsing capabilities, working closely with front-end engineers, product, and architecture teams. You will be instrumental in building out new features, improving the service’s performance and scalability, and ensuring its seamless integration into the platform. 

The project is a key initiative focused on transforming a successful private beta service into a robust, scalable, and production-ready feature within the platform. It leverages advanced AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to extract valuable, contextualized information from industrial technical documentation, such as equipment specification sheets. After a period of limited maintenance, the project is now entering a phase of active development, driven by a strong demand for new features. Key goals include enhancing core capabilities, improving performance through efforts like load testing, and ensuring the solution can operate effectively at an enterprise scale. This initiative plays an important role in supporting the broader vision of delivering a comprehensive data and AI platform for industrial applications.

Requirements

Key Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong focus on Python development.
• Familiarity with cloud development concepts and technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) in a multi-cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience working with databases and data storage systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, S3-compatible storage).
• Understanding of and experience with concepts related to AI/LLMs, such as using LLM APIs, text extraction techniques, and potentially vector databases.
• Experience with designing and implementing APIs (RESTful).
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in an agile development environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in an English-speaking team.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, a natural science field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Kotlin or TypeScript.
• Experience with performance tuning and load testing backend services.
• Knowledge of industrial data or domain-specific documentation parsing.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
• Familiarity with metrics and logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack).

Job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Python.
• Implement new features based on customer requirements and the project backlog, with a focus on leveraging AI and LLM capabilities for text extraction and data processing.
• Work with databases (such as PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch) and blob storage solutions to manage document data and extracted information.
• Collaborate with the team to integrate the service with other components of the platform via APIs.
• Participate in activities aimed at improving service performance and scalability, including contributing to load testing efforts.
• Write well-structured, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to SDLC and quality standards.
• Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and code reviews.
• Collaborate effectively with a distributed team and cross-functional stakeholders.
