Description

Global player in the railway sector is looking to create an internal platform aimed to support the Bid and Sales teams during critical stages of the bidding process, as well as to assist to Engineers throughout key phases of the Engineering projects lifecycle.

This solution utilizes various techniques, including multi-agent GenAI, to enhance the requirements and compliance process, facilitate data analysis and tender authoring, provide guidance in engineering, offer technical support, and aid in decision-making. It also generates essential artifacts such as requirements, designs, and tests. Additionally, the solution will enable data analytics to identify trends across bids, supporting the Sales and Product Development teams.

Requirements

We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong user empathy and experience in Agile delivery to support the discovery of an AI assistant tool tailored for Bids and Engineering functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where delivering value quickly, iterative learning, and lightweight documentation are prioritized over formal upfront design. You’ll work closely with the Product Owner and discovery team to understand user needs, define use cases, and support solution development — all while helping build a tool that supports the discovery process itself.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in a business analyst, discovery analyst, or hybrid product role.
  • Strong background in Agile environments with a focus on rapid, iterative delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and synthesize complex user needs through interviews, workshops, and journey mapping.
  • Experience applying the Jobs to Be Done (JTBD) framework to uncover meaningful user goals and define use cases.
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking principles and techniques to guide problem framing, ideation, and user validation.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, with an emphasis on delivering value quickly, reducing waste, and learning through iteration.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the use of visual, verbal, written, and facilitation techniques to engage diverse stakeholders and communicate complex ideas simply.
  • Ability to produce clear, useful artifacts such as user stories, use case outlines, and experience maps without unnecessary complexity.
  • Familiarity with AI-augmented tooling or intelligent assistants is a plus, but not essential.

Job responsibilities

Product & Discovery Support

  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to align discovery efforts with product vision and roadmap.
  • Advise on discovery approaches suited to Agile and iterative environments.
  • Help shape discovery priorities to enable quick validation of value and need.

User Engagement & Insight Gathering

  • Conduct workshops, interviews, observations, and journey walkthroughs with Bids and Engineering users.
  • Extract and synthesize insights related to goals, pain points, context, and motivations.
  • Prioritize trust, empathy, and real-world examples in all user engagements.

Use Case & Requirement Definition

  • Define and prioritize user jobs, goals, and tasks using methods such as Jobs to Be Done (JTBD).
  • Rapidly translate insights into use cases and lightweight personas or journey sketches.
  • Produce concise, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams.

AI Discovery Assistant Collaboration

  • Support the development of a parallel AI tool designed to assist with discovery itself (e.g., recording sessions, summarising meetings, generating insights).
  • Provide structured feedback on AI tool features and outputs to ensure alignment with real discovery workflows.

Team Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, designers, and product managers to ensure insights inform design and development.
  • Mentor junior analysts or researchers in discovery techniques and Agile communication practices.
  • Share discovery outputs in accessible, visual formats that suit iterative, cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Continuous Improvement & Agile Practice

  • Promote “just enough” documentation and decision-making that enables speed and clarity.
  • Embrace iteration — adjust methods, outputs, and requirements based on feedback and learning.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint planning) with context-rich, user-focused input
