Description

We are kicking off a set of AI initiatives within our Global Medtech platform and are currently looking to bring on two contract roles to support this effort.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Applied Machine Learning / NLP Engineer with a strong background in natural language processing and a passion for healthcare technology. You will lead the development of intelligent features that analyze free-text clinical notes, predict CPT codes, and generate context-aware documentation templates using state-of-the-art models and LLMs.

Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on ML/NLP experience in real-world applications
Strong proficiency in Python and ML/NLP libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, spaCy, HuggingFace Transformers, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT, T5, PaLM, LLaMA) via APIs or fine-tuning
Solid understanding of text classification, NER, embeddings, and transformers
Experience working with healthcare data (EHR, CPT, SNOMED, ICD, HL7/FHIR) strongly preferred
Familiarity with model deployment frameworks (e.g., MLFlow, FastAPI, Docker)
Bonus: Experience with clinical NLP tools (e.g., cTAKES, MedSpaCy, MetaMap)

 

Job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy NLP models to extract structured data from clinical free-text notes
• Build and fine-tune models to map procedure descriptions to CPT codes using supervised learning and/or LLMs
• Develop AI-powered documentation templates using prompt engineering and text generation techniques
• Evaluate and improve model performance using offline and real-world data
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering to deploy models into production
• Establish scalable pipelines for data preprocessing, labeling, training, and inference
• Monitor model drift, re-training needs, and incorporate human-in-the-loop feedback
