The Client is the UK’s leading fee-free mortgage broker. Together with Globallogic, they are embarking on a significant digital transformation since they have recently acquired the source code for a market-leading Mortgage Management COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) system and now are looking for a skilled Software Architect. 

The role focuses on providing architectural leadership, technical governance and hands-on guidance across multiple delivery teams. The overarching initiative involves driving platform modernisation, reducing technical debt and translating strategic direction into consistent, scalable, secure and maintainable software solutions. It requires collaborating with diverse stakeholders (such as Enterprise Architects, Product and DevOps) to support transformation programmes and ensure long-term technical sustainability.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Software Architect to provide architectural leadership across our Engineering function.

Profficiency with the following technologies and tools:

  • .NET / C#
  • ASP.NET Core
  • Azure cloud services
  • Azure DevOps
  • Azure SQL
  • Git
  • CI/CD Pipelines
  • Github Copilot

Technical Skills & Architecture Paradigms (must-have):

  • Designing and delivering enterprise-scale software solutions
  • Modern software architecture
  • Cloud-native and distributed application architectures
  • Designing APIs and distributed systems
  • Defining engineering standards and architectural patterns

Other Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English).

 

Technical Skills & Architectures (nice to have):

  • Modernising legacy platforms and applications
  • Event-driven architectures
  • Containerisation and orchestration technologies
  • Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF or Azure Architect)
  • Awareness of emerging AI and automation technologies

 

Job responsibilities

  • Architecture Leadership: Define and maintain software architecture standards, patterns, and design principles; provide leadership across multiple teams; review and approve significant software designs; ensure architecture consistency; manage technical risks; and facilitate architecture reviews and governance.
  • Solution Design: Produce and review High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs); guide teams through complex design decisions; ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and supportable; and promote the reuse of common services, components, and patterns.
  • Engineering Partnership: Partner with Engineering leaders to improve quality and technical standards; support DevSecOps and modern software engineering practices; champion observability, automation, testing, and operational excellence; and reduce technical debt and complexity.
  • Modernisation & Technical Strategy: Support platform modernisation initiatives and technology evolution; contribute to roadmaps and architectural direction; evaluate emerging technologies; and balance short-term delivery with long-term technical sustainability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Enterprise Architects to align delivery with strategic direction; collaborate with Product, Security, Data, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams; communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; and build consensus across teams.
  • Mentoring & Capability Development: Mentor Software Architects, Technical Leads, and Senior Engineers; support the development of architecture capabilities; promote knowledge sharing and best practices; and assist with the recruitment and development of senior technical talent.
