We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Hands-on eCommerce Solution Architect to lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of enterprise Retail and eCommerce solutions.
The candidate must have 15+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 12+ years of hands-on eCommerce technology experience, with proven experience delivering production projects on Shopify and at least one additional eCommerce platform, such as VTEX, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce (Magento), commercetools, or SAP Commerce Cloud.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in eCommerce architecture, headless commerce, API-led integrations, and retail ecosystem systems, including Payment Gateways, OMS, ERP, PIM, WMS, Loyalty, and CRM. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can drive architecture decisions, develop proof of concepts, review implementations, mentor engineering teams, and ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated expert-level proficiency and extensive hands-on experience with Shopify Plus, including deep knowledge of Liquid templating language and platform customization capabilities.
- Mandatory expertise in the retail and e-commerce domain, with a proven track record of architecting and delivering successful digital commerce solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for articulating complex architectural concepts to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced understanding and practical application of Clean Architecture and Layered Architectures principles in designing robust and maintainable software systems.
- Strong advanced knowledge of database design, optimization, and management, ensuring high performance and scalability for critical e-commerce data.
- Proven advanced capability in solution architecture, including the ability to translate business requirements into comprehensive technical designs and system blueprints.
- Advanced proficiency in HTML, with a strong ability to develop and optimize front-end structures for responsive and user-friendly e-commerce interfaces.
- Advanced expertise in JavaScript, including modern frameworks and libraries, for building dynamic and interactive web applications within the e-commerce ecosystem.
- Advanced experience with CRM systems, demonstrating the ability to integrate and leverage customer relationship management platforms to enhance business processes.

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance Retail and eCommerce solutions.
Translate business requirements into robust, maintainable solution architectures aligned with business objectives.
Define architecture standards, design principles, integration patterns, and technology guidelines.
Create High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), solution architecture diagrams, API specifications, and integration documentation.
Design commerce solutions using Shopify and at least one additional enterprise eCommerce platform.
Evaluate native platform capabilities, third-party applications, extensions, and custom development requirements.
Design headless, composable, and omnichannel commerce architectures where appropriate.
Lead platform replatforming, modernization, migration, and phased implementation initiatives.
Define non-functional requirements covering performance, scalability, availability, security, and operational resilience.
eCommerce Platform Expertise
Demonstrate hands-on implementation and architecture experience with Shopify, including Shopify Plus where applicable.
Design and implement Shopify integrations using Admin GraphQL APIs, Storefront API, REST APIs where applicable, webhooks, metafields, metaobjects, themes, app extensions, and Shopify Markets.
Have substantial implementation experience with at least one additional eCommerce platform, such as VTEX, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce (Magento), commercetools, or SAP Commerce Cloud.
Understand platform-specific capabilities, extensibility models, APIs, integration patterns, and architectural trade-offs.
Lead technical assessments and recommend appropriate platform capabilities, native integrations, third-party applications, or custom solutions.
Drive implementation strategies for multi-brand, multi-market, multi-currency, and omnichannel commerce solutions.
Development & Integration Architecture
Remain hands-on by developing proof of concepts, validating architectural approaches, and contributing to complex technical implementations.
Design and implement API-led integrations using GraphQL, REST, webhooks, and event-driven communication patterns.
Architect middleware, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF), microservices, and integration orchestration layers using Node.js, .NET, Java, or equivalent technologies.
Design secure, scalable integrations between eCommerce platforms and enterprise retail systems, including:
Payment Gateways: Payment authorization, capture, refunds, tokenization, fraud prevention, split payments, and PCI DSS considerations.
Order Management Systems (OMS): Order orchestration, status synchronization, order allocation, cancellations, returns, refunds, and fulfillment.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Product, pricing, order, inventory, financial, and fulfillment data synchronization.
Product Information Management (PIM) and Digital Asset Management (DAM): Product catalog, attributes, taxonomy, media assets, localization, and enrichment.
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Inventory Systems: Stock synchronization, reservations, availability, fulfillment, and multi-location inventory.
Loyalty and CRM Platforms: Customer profiles, membership, points, rewards, promotions, subscriptions, and customer engagement.
CDP and MarTech Platforms: Customer data, consent, segmentation, personalization, marketing automation, analytics, and event tracking.
Tax, Shipping, Search, and Marketplace Systems: Tax calculation, carrier integrations, delivery estimates, product feeds, marketplace orders, and search capabilities.
Define integration contracts, data mappings, transformation rules, error handling, retry mechanisms, idempotency, reconciliation, and rate-limiting strategies.
Ensure reliable data synchronization across products, prices, inventory, customers, orders, payments, and fulfillment systems.
Drive code quality through architecture reviews, code reviews, technical coaching, and implementation guidance.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide architectural recommendations for reliability, performance, and scalability improvements.
Mentorship & Team Collaboration
Mentor Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and Software Engineers across multiple delivery teams.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX/UI, QA, DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, technical discussions, and proof-of-concept development.
Establish reusable architecture patterns, integration frameworks, reference implementations, and engineering standards.
Guide teams in implementing modern software engineering practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development.
Collaborate with clients and third-party vendors to resolve integration dependencies and align technical implementation with business objectives.
Support technical presales, solution estimation, architecture assessments, and proposal development where required.
Scalability, Security & Performance
Design highly available, scalable, resilient, and secure eCommerce architectures.
Define performance and scalability strategies for storefronts, commerce APIs, middleware, and downstream integrations.
Establish observability strategies covering logging, metrics, distributed tracing, monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
Define security practices for authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, API protection, and secure integrations.
Understand payment security, tokenization boundaries, and PCI DSS implications.
Define and validate non-functional requirements, including latency, throughput, availability, disaster recovery, and platform API rate limits.
Drive technical debt reduction, architecture modernization, operational optimization, and continuous improvement.
