Generative AI will change the society

Dr. Jim Walsh, Chief Technology Officer, GlobalLogic, in this article with ITmedia Japan, highlights the rapid development of generative AI and its transformative impact on society. Mr. Jun Yoshida, Chief AI Transformation Officer, Hitachi, emphasizes the role of AI in innovation and problem-solving and views generative AI as a potent tool for addressing social challenges. The establishment of the Generative AI Center underscores Hitachi’s commitment to leveraging this technology across its companies and customer base.

GlobalLogic actively utilizes generative AI within the company. Typical examples are the knowledge management system known internally as “Dr. Koogle” and a source code converter and optimizing system called “TechTransform”. Dr. Koogle is a combination of OpenAI’s large-scale language model (LLM) “GPT” and open-source LLM, collecting public information inside and outside the company.

Initiatives using generative AI by the Hitachi Group and GlobalLogic have already begun. One example is the case in which Hitachi Energy, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, operates a global power transmission and distribution business, in the field of customer support.

Hitachi Group aims to collaborate with GlobalLogic to maximize generative AI’s benefits while ensuring safety, security, and ethical usage. This synergy underscores the strategic utilization of generative AI to overcome societal challenges while navigating ethical considerations, positioning it as a transformative force in various industries.
