Requirements

Join our dynamic Systems Engineering team to manage diverse production and non-production systems globally. As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you will be crucial in delivering actionable solutions to meet our evolving business needs. This role encompasses various platforms, including cloud services, virtualization, servers, storage, backups, and databases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide guidance on existing technologies, implement new features, and onboard third-party solutions. You will work on requests for cloud and on-premises technologies, advocating for best practices based on business use cases defined by the product team. Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, you will contribute to the success of our technology infrastructure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required for effective collaboration with global teams, clear articulation of technical solutions, and providing leadership in cloud systems management and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of Azure cost management and optimization, including usage analysis and leveraging Azure Advisor recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience managing AWS S3 buckets, ensuring secure and compliant data management. Experience migrating on-premises solutions to cloud-based offerings while ensuring seamless functionality. Excellent troubleshooting skills, providing L3 support, mentoring L2 teams, and resolving complex infrastructure issues
  • Familiarity with VMware, including assessing and migrating on-premises VMware to Azure
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to major incidents, participate in conference calls, and support critical IT processes
  • Experience with databases, ETL, Data Lakes, and Data warehouses
  • Automation experience using tools like Salt, Puppet, Ansible, or SCCM, and scripting for automation and infrastructure management
  • Experience troubleshooting network configurations with multiple subnets and VLANs
  • Technical expertise in Windows and Linux systems management
  • Familiarity with cloud services like MongoDB, Confluent, and Snowflake, ensuring connectivity and optimal resource utilization preferred.
    Familiarity with enterprise network storage solutions (i.e. NetApp) for efficient and reliable operations preferred

Job responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and maintain Azure and AWS cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking components, focusing on security, availability, and scalability (laaS, IAC, DBaaS, PaaS, & SaaS)
  • Engineer, manage, and optimize the installation, configuration, and tuning of cloud infrastructure components for optimal performance and efficiency. Collaborate with senior cloud engineering team members to align cloud systems engineering and architecture designs with platform needs and advocate for adopting best-fit technologies
  • Participate in migrating and maintaining on-premises solutions to cloud-based PaaS and SaaS offerings, ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Assisting with setting up parallel cloud environments to mirror existing infrastructure, enabling efficient operations and maintenance across regions.
  • Assisting with the assessment and migration of on-premises VMware to Azure.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to implement new features and functionality in the Databricks environment.
  • Perform Azure cost management by analyzing usage and leveraging Azure Advisor recommendations for optimal resource allocation.
  • Assist senior cloud engineers with technology upgrades and cloud systems consolidation and cleanup initiatives for streamlined infrastructure and resource optimization.
  • Respond to major incidents and participate in conference calls to support critical IT processes.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for consistent platform provisioning, uptime, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for critical systems and infrastructure components.
  • Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience. Certifications from Microsoft
