Description

An AWS-based internal data mesh platform with approximately 100 data products providing complete vehicle history and analytics. The platform handles several hundred TiB of data, supports over 1500 global users, and enables efficient evaluation of vehicle events to help improve quality processes and customer experience.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Backend Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize data pipelines in support of both analytical and AI/ML-driven data products. Working within the Data mesh on the AWS Data Platform and Databricks, you will build reliable data flows.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python.
• Proficient with AWS Glue (PySpark), Athena, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB.
• Strong experience with Databricks / Spark / Delta Lake / Unity Catalog.
• Knowledge of data preparation for ML: feature generation, windowing, deduplication, imputation.
• Familiarity with job orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, native Glue triggers, Databricks workflows).
• Git-based development workflows and CI/CD for data pipelines.

Job responsibilities

• Build robust ETL pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, S3, Iceberg, and Databricks.
• Design and implement SADP → CADP transformations, including AI feature sets.
• Ingest structured and semi-structured data (Kafka, CFT, APIs, files).
• Build and manage Databricks Unity Catalog entities (tables, views, permissions).
• Support GDPR-compliant processing of PII within AI data pipelines.
• Validate data quality, lineage, and freshness in training and scoring pipelines.
• Export refined datasets to Qlik, DDX, or Unity Catalog for consumption.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate models into data product pipelines.
