Job Responsibilities:

Modem & Chipset Engineering

  • Analyze, debug, and optimize modem behavior on Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Apple SoCs
  • Work with baseband firmware, modem logs, and RF metrics to diagnose network and device issues
  • Support 5G, LTE, VoLTE, IoT, and eSIM modem stacks
  • Perform call flow, attach, handover, throughput, and latency analysis

Device & Network Diagnostics

  • Interpret and analyze:
  • RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, CQI, BLER, throughput
  • Attach failures, PDP context, IMS registration
  • Mobility, roaming, and network fallback

Firmware & OS Integration

  • Android modem HAL
  • iOS baseband interfaces
  • Linux-based embedded systems

Support:

  • OTA modem updates
  • Crash logs
  • Baseband dumps
  • Vendor debug tools (QPST, QXDM, MTK tools, Apple baseband logs)

Requirements

Networking Knowledge

  • TCP/IP over cellular
  • Network attach & session lifecycle
  • Carrier core network interaction

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting large-scale device fleets
  • Familiarity with OTA firmware pipelines
  • Understanding of device certification and carrier acceptance testing

 Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

GlobalLogic estimates the starting pay range for this role to be performed in Basking Ridge, NJ, to be $120,000 to $130,000, and reflects base salary only. This pay range is provided as a good-faith estimate, and the amount offered may be higher or lower. GlobalLogic takes many factors into consideration in making an offer, including candidate qualifications, work experience, operational needs, travel and onsite requirements, internal peer equity, prevailing wage, responsibilities, and other market and business considerations.

Job responsibilities

Carrier Network Integration

  • Validate modem behavior against:
  • APN, IMS, VoLTE, VoWiFi
  • 5G NSA/SA configurations
  • Support network certification, testing, and performance tuning

Production Support & Escalation

  • Support field escalations
  • Poor signal
  • Call drops
  • Data failures
  • Device-network mismatches
  • Work with OEMs, chipset vendors, and carrier teams to resolve root causes
