Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Domain Knowledge (Technical):
– Wireless Protocols: Deep understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR RAN architecture, specifically Layer 2 (MAC and RLC). Knowledge of PDCP and RRC is a plus.
– Development Background: Strong past experience in hands-on software development (C OR C++) for wireless protocol stacks. You must be able to understand the code your team is writing.
– Standards: Familiarity with relevant 3GPP OR O-RAN specifications.
2. Management & Soft Skills:
– Project Management: Proven experience managing complex software projects using Agile/Scrum. Certification (PMP, CSM) is a plus.
– Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear summaries for executive leadership and customers.
– Interpersonal: Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to manage conflict, negotiate scope, and build high-performing teams.
3. Customer Facing: Experience participating in customer technical workshops, troubleshooting sessions, or pre-sales technical support.
4. Education:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Delivery Management
-End-to-End Ownership: Oversee the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for RAN features, from requirements analysis to final delivery.
– Agile Leadership: Lead the team using Agile/Scrum methodologies. Organize sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
– Impediment Removal: Proactively identify and resolve technical or logistical blockers to ensure the team maintains velocity.
– Quality Assurance: Define and monitor key quality metrics (KPIs, bug densities, test coverage). Regularly present project status and quality health dashboards to senior management.
2. Technical Leadership & Architecture
– Design Authority: Participate in feature requirement analysis, high-level design, and architecture reviews. Ensure the technical solution is scalable and compliant with 3GPP specifications.
– Code & Quality Standards: Enforce coding standards and best practices. While this is a management role, the ability to dive into code reviews or debug complex protocol issues is required.
3. Team & Stakeholder Management
– People Management: Drive, motivate, and mentor a team of specialized protocol engineers. Handle performance appraisals and career development planning.
– Stakeholder Interfacing: Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (Product Management, System Engineering) and external customers. Manage expectations regarding scope, timelines, and deliverables.
– Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration between Development, QA, and Integration teams to ensure seamless feature rollouts.
