Requirements

Azure-based cloud data platform – the environment in which teams across the company build data-driven products at global scale. Within the program, the Network Team owns the platform’s cloud networking layer: the connectivity, segmentation, and network security that enables customers to deploy and operate cloud solutions without managing the underlying infrastructure complexity.

We are looking for a Cloud Network Architect to drive the evolution of the platform. You will design cloud connectivity Solutions, translate business needs into well-defined features and technical specifications, and maintain alignment with stakeholders and other platform teams across the program. Extensive hands-on cloud experience is a must for this role.

Requirements
Experience & technical skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and network engineering/architecture; extensive hands-on experience with public cloud is a must.
– Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, in particular Azure networking: Virtual Networks and peering, hub-and-spoke topologies, Private Link / Private Endpoints, Azure DNS and Private DNS zones, Azure Firewall, NSGs and route tables (UDRs), load balancing (Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway), and hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
– Proven experience designing and operating enterprise-scale cloud network architectures: multi-subscription environments / landing zones, segmentation and isolation concepts, and secure connectivity between environments.
– Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code is a must; Pulumi with Python is a strong plus (Terraform, Bicep, or similar are also relevant).
– Proficiency in Python.
– Solid understanding of network security: zero-trust principles, traffic inspection and filtering, and private connectivity patterns.
– Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / AKS) and their networking aspects (CNI, ingress, network policies, private clusters).
– Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally for infrastructure changes.
– Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting cloud networks (e.g., Azure Network Watcher, flow logs, Log Analytics / KQL) is a plus.
Soft skills
– Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
– Strong sense of ownership; able to take end-to-end responsibility for a solution from design through to adoption.
– Proven ability to take vague, business-level requirements and refine them into concrete features, user stories, and technical specifications.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset.
– Ability to lead, mentor, and influence engineers.
– Comfortable working in international, cross-functional environments; fluent English.
Bonus points
– Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Network Engineer Associate AZ-700, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
– Contributions to open-source Pulumi projects.
– Experience in automotive or other large-enterprise environments.
– Experience working in Agile.
– German language skills.

Network architecture & design
– Drive the evolution of the platform’s cloud network architecture hands-on, with a clear focus on minimizing time-to-delivery while ensuring stability and security.
– Design connectivity solutions within and between platform workspaces, to on-premises networks, and to external services — balancing isolation, security, and ease of consumption.
– Research solution options and deliver PoC work to support architectural proposals.
– Define architectural patterns and best practices for scalable, resilient, and secure networking within the Azure ecosystem.
– Create architecture diagrams, network designs, and high-level solution designs; document architectural decisions and produce system documentation, PRDs, DDs, and ADRs.
Requirements engineering & refinement
– Play a central role in refinement: work closely with the product owner and stakeholders from other teams to understand the actual need behind high-level requests, and translate it into features, user stories, and technical specifications.
– Evaluate feasibility, effort, and trade-offs of alternative solutions, and communicate them clearly to support decision-making.
– Coordinate cross-team topics and dependencies with other platform teams in an international setup.
Collaboration & mentorship
– Collaborate with cross-functional, international teams to define requirements and align solutions.
– Mentor and guide engineers on Azure networking, architectural principles, and IaC best practices.
– Promote knowledge sharing and documentation of architectural decisions.
