The Origin Story

“Long-distance swimming teaches discipline, patience, preparation, and stamina. You cannot succeed by rushing. You need to understand the conditions, manage your energy, adapt when things change, and keep moving forward even when the finish line feels far away. I think the exact same mindset helps in long and complex engineering projects.”

My engineering journey began during a difficult and life-changing period for my family. When Russia’s invasion of eastern Ukraine began in 2014, my family and I moved to Kyiv. I had to leave behind my work as an associate professor and start a completely new professional chapter. That transition brought me to GlobalLogic, where I joined as a Software Engineer.

At first, it felt like a major reset: a new city, a new industry, and a new role. I worked evenings and weekends to catch up and grow quickly, and after just three months, I was promoted to team leader for a new project we were building from scratch. I believe my background in education played a vital role in that opportunity. Those qualities became the foundation of how I mentor colleagues and approach technical challenges today. In 2022, my family and I made another big move, this time to Canada. It was another new beginning, but it felt easier in some ways because I was incredibly grateful to continue working on my same project, just from a new country.

When I step away from my laptop, my biggest passion is open-water swimming. I enjoy long-distance swims of 20 kilometers or more, while my son prefers shorter distances of around three to six kilometers. My husband usually runs nearby while we swim, so the sport has truly become a core part of our family life. We also volunteer at Masters swimming events, helping as timers and supporting the local swimming community. Volunteering gives me a profound feeling of belonging and reminds me that true impact is about contributing to something bigger than yourself.

The sport has taken me to beautiful places around the world, including the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey, Yucatán in Mexico, Lake Orta in Italy, and across Greece, Cyprus, Spain, and Canada. For me, the connection between swimming and engineering is undeniable. It reminds me to stay calm, trust the process, support the people around me, and always keep the bigger goal in mind.

Professional Impact & The GlobalLogic Journey

Since joining GlobalLogic, I have grown from a .NET Software Engineer into my current role as a Technology Architect. Today, I work on solution design and help coordinate delivery for my main project across a globally distributed team spanning the UK, Ukraine, Poland, India, Canada, and the USA. Because of this massive geographical spread, alignment is everything. A big part of my role is helping people stay connected, understand the bigger picture, and move in the exact same direction.

I also take part in pre-sales and advisory activities, which allows me to analyze customer needs, brainstorm ideas with talented colleagues, and propose possible solutions. For me, being a Technology Architect is not only about designing complex systems. It is about asking the right questions, connecting people, and helping turn abstract ideas into practical solutions that work in real life.

The Stakes: Engineering for Public Safety

The project I currently lead is deeply embedded in the public safety domain. We are building a digital evidence platform that helps investigators collect, organize, review, and share evidence in a highly secure way. Using the Microsoft .NET and Azure technology stack, the platform includes advanced features such as automated transcription, face detection, AI-assisted search, media compilation, and forensic redaction. Because the public safety domain is so sensitive, absolute reliability, security, and performance are non-negotiable.

Beyond the code, the ultimate business problem we solve is helping public safety organizations handle digital evidence faster, safer, and in a much more organized way. Instead of spending countless hours on manual work or searching through disconnected systems, investigators can find the critical information they need in one place. Our platform drastically accelerates that process, allowing investigators to focus on the case itself.

The Crucible: Expanding into New Markets

One of the highest-stakes challenges I faced was when our Digital Evidence Platform had to enter a new market. At first, it looked like a normal extension of the product. But we quickly understood that a new market means much more than just a new customer, it means entirely new laws, strict new compliance requirements, different business processes, and unexpected scenarios that were never part of the original design.

It was a very high-pressure situation because many teams were involved, and we had to move quickly without losing quality or breaking customer trust. My role was to bridge the gap between the technical team and the business side to understand what was truly needed. We overcame the challenge by strictly prioritizing the most valuable features, keeping security as our top priority, and making the scope crystal clear instead of trying to solve everything at once.

This experience taught me that successful delivery is not only about technical skills. It is about communication, trust, flexibility, and the ability to stay calm when people are tired and under intense pressure. Sometimes, the most important contribution is not a complex technical idea, but the right question asked at the exact right moment.

Achievements & The Drive to Learn

Our globally distributed team is incredibly healthy and supportive. Many people have stayed with this project for years, which I think says a lot about our culture. To keep everyone connected, I usually have my daily meetings early AM. to sync with Europe and India, followed by evening calls with the USA. During difficult issues, we focus on solutions, not who is guilty. This creates massive trust and makes collaboration much easier.

To stay current in this fast-paced industry, I take a practical approach. I follow cloud and AI trends, take relevant certifications from Anthropic, Microsoft, and AWS, and use learning platforms like O’Reilly. Every year, I also watch Microsoft Ignite sessions to better understand exactly where the industry is moving.

Moving forward, my next step is to gain more domain knowledge beyond public safety and continue growing as a Solution Architect, connecting business needs with practical, highly scalable technical solutions.

Advice for Future Colleagues

“Stay open, curious, and ready to learn. GlobalLogic gives you the opportunity to try different roles, work with different people, and grow step by step.”

I think people should join GlobalLogic if they want to work on genuinely meaningful projects, learn from strong colleagues, and have the chance to build their career in many different directions. For me, it was a place where I could start as an engineer, take on more responsibility, and make more impact.
