Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Java Engineer to join a project focused on financial documentation and document processing solutions within the insurance domain.

In this role, you will combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, contributing to the architecture, development, and evolution of reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in Java development.
• Strong expertise in Java 17+ and modern Java development practices.
• Strong knowledge of Spring / Spring Boot.
• Solid experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or similar technologies.
• Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code.
• Experience with cloud technologies and containerized applications, preferably AWS and Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher English.
• Knowledge of security and compliance requirements in financial or regulated environments.
• Experience working in distributed international teams.

As a Lead Java Engineer, you will be expected to:

• Act as a technical point of contact for the team.
• Take ownership of technical decisions within the project scope.
• Help shape and evolve the solution architecture.
• Set and maintain engineering standards.
• Facilitate technical discussions and drive decisions.
• Identify and address technical debt and architectural risks.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions meet business needs.

Job responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and development of Java-based backend solutions.
• Define and maintain application architecture and technical standards.
• Drive implementation of complex features and provide technical guidance to the development team.
• Review code and ensure high standards of code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, architects, QA engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving complex production and integration issues.
• Contribute to technical documentation and architectural decisions.
• Mentor and support other engineers, promoting engineering best practices.
• Participate in system modernization, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
