Requirements
Core skills
- Ruby / Ruby on Rails (API-first development)
- PostgreSQL with strong query optimization experience
- Background job processing (Sidekiq or similar)
- RSpec and test-driven development
- AWS fundamentals (ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, etc.)
- Docker / containerized environments
- API design and best practices
- 8+ years building backend systems with Rails
- Strong ownership mindse; able to design, build, and operate services end-to-end
- Experience scaling systems and improving performance
- Comfortable debugging production issues and driving root cause fixes
- Solid understanding of data modeling and tradeoffs
- Ability to mentor engineers and raise the bar on code quality
