Description

The Java SmartStart Program is designed for students who want to deepen their Java knowledge and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, mentor-led environment. This remote program is ideal for technically inclined students looking to build a strong foundation in Java and related technologies. With guidance from experienced trainers, access to curated learning materials, and support from a vibrant community, you’ll be well-equipped to take your first steps into the tech industry.

How to Apply

We’re selecting 30 participants based entirely on their intention letters – no technical interviews required.

To apply:

Submit your updated CV, which includes a short letter of intent. Your letter should be no longer than one page (approx. 300–400 words). We’re looking for authenticity, curiosity, and a willingness to grow, not perfection. Your letter should answer the following questions:

  1. What motivates you to pursue a career in software development, and why have you chosen Java as your starting point?
  2. Describe a personal, academic, or extracurricular project where you used Java or a similar programming language. What challenges did you face, and what did you learn?
  3. What are your expectations from the Java SmartStart Program? How will it help you grow as a developer?
  4. How do you typically approach learning new technical concepts or solving programming problems?
  5. Are you planning to use this program to fulfill your university’s mandatory practice/internship hours? If so, please specify your university’s requirements.

Last day to apply July 20th.

Requirements

We’re looking for motivated students who:

  • Are currently enrolled in a technical university or a faculty of mathematics and computer science.
  • Have a basic understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Possess foundational knowledge of Java Core and SQL.
  • Understand core programming logic, including variables, conditions, and loops.
  • Are familiar with basic algorithms and data structures (e.g., arrays, lists, stacks).
  • Are proficient in English (Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate level), both written and spoken.
  • Are eager to learn and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Job responsibilities

  • Attend live online training sessions three times per week.
  • Complete assignments and apply concepts in practice.
  • Engage in regular check-ins and status meetings with trainers and mentors.
  • Collaborate with a designated mentor (“buddy”) to receive personalized guidance and feedback.
  • Participate in community discussions, peer review, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate consistent effort and curiosity in learning new technical concepts.
