Requirements

We are seeking a highly experienced Informatica Architect with 15+ years of expertise in designing, architecting, and delivering enterprise-scale data integration solutions. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end Informatica architecture for data migration, data warehousing, cloud modernization, and real-time integration initiatives, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and reliability across complex data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

Define end-to-end architecture for Informatica-based data integration solutions using:

Informatica PowerCenter

Informatica Cloud (IICS)

Informatica BDM / IDQ / MDM (as applicable)

Design scalable ETL/ELT frameworks for batch and real-time processing.

Architect data migration and modernization solutions (on-prem to cloud, legacy to modern DWH).

Define standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks for Informatica development.

 

Technical Leadership:

Lead and mentor ETL developers, senior engineers, and offshore teams.

Perform design reviews, code reviews, and performance tuning.

Resolve complex production issues and bottlenecks.

Drive optimization of workflows, mappings, and data pipelines.

 

Data Platform & Integration:

Design integrations across:

RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL)

NoSQL (optional)

Flat files, APIs, SaaS sources

Work with Data Warehousing concepts:

OLTP / OLAP

Star & Snowflake schemas

Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD)

Implement CDC, incremental loads, and reconciliation strategies.

Cloud & Modern Data Stack:

Design Informatica solutions for cloud platforms:

AWS / Azure / GCP

Integrate with cloud data warehouses:

Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse

Define hybrid architectures for on-prem + cloud coexistence.

Data Quality, Governance & Security:

Implement data quality rules using Informatica IDQ.

Define metadata, lineage, and governance practices.

Ensure compliance with data security and regulatory standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with:

Business stakeholders

Product Owners

Data Engineers

Enterprise Architects

Translate business requirements into robust technical designs.

Participate in solution workshops and architecture governance boards.

15+ years of hands-on experience with:

Informatica PowerCenter

Beyond basic transformations, a 10-year veteran should master:

Performance Tuning: Identifying and resolving bottlenecks in Source, Target, Mapping, and Session. Expertise in Pipeline Partitioning (Round-Robin, Hash, Key Range) to process huge datasets in parallel.

Pushdown Optimization (PDO): Knowing when to push transformation logic to the database (Source, Target, or Full) to leverage the power of the DB engine.

Reusable Logic: Advanced use of Mapplets, User-Defined Functions (UDFs), and Worklets to ensure consistency across the enterprise.

Memory Management: Tuning DTM (Data Transformation Manager) buffer sizes, block sizes, and cache sizes for Aggregators, Joiners, and Lookups.

2. Large Scale Data Migration Strategy
For “huge data” migrations, you need more than just ETL; you need a migration framework:

Incremental Loading & CDC: Implementing Change Data Capture (using Informatica PowerExchange or mapping variables) to migrate data without long downtime.

Migration Patterns: Mastery of “Big Bang” vs. “Phased/Trickle” migrations.

Data Validation at Scale: Designing automated reconciliation frameworks (checksums, row counts, and attribute-level comparisons) to ensure zero data loss during the move.

Rollback & Recovery: Architecting workflows with Session Recovery and restartability so that a failure at the 10th hour of a 12-hour migration doesn’t require a full restart.

3. Database & SQL Mastery
Advanced SQL/PL-SQL: Expert-level query optimization, use of Analytical Functions (RANK, LEAD/LAG), and writing complex Stored Procedures for database-level transformations.

Database Internals: Understanding execution plans, indexing strategies (B-tree vs. Bitmap), and partitioning at the database level (Oracle, SQL Server, or Teradata).

Bulk Loading: Using external loaders (like Oracle SQL*Loader or Teradata MultiLoad) within Informatica for high-speed ingestion.

4. Architectural & System Skills
Data Modeling: Deep knowledge of Dimensional Modeling (Star/Snowflake Schema), Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Types 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6), and ODS (Operational Data Store) design.

Unix/Linux Shell Scripting: Writing wrapper scripts for job scheduling, file handling (sed, awk), and automating pre/post-session tasks.

Cloud Modernization: Knowledge of migrating on-prem PowerCenter to Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) or cloud warehouses like Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS Redshift.
