Location: Romania (Option to work remotely only from within Romania)
Position Type: Temporary, until December 31, 2025

We are looking for a Mid/Senior Back-End Developer (PHP) to join our team on a temporary basis (until December 2025). In this role, you will play a key part in modernizing and optimizing a large-scale employee benefits platform, with a strong focus on code migration, restructuring monolithic applications into microservices, and implementing best practices for scalable, cloud-based solutions.

Requirements

• Analyze and understand the existing code base
• Rewrite and optimize code using recent technologies with proper test coverage
• Identify tactical and long-term improvements for scalability and performance
• Collaborate closely with team members and report progress on a daily basis
• Ensure proper maintenance of technical documentation
• Support and contribute to best practices within the development team

Job responsibilities

Must have:

• Strong English, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of the client’s team
• Minimum 3 years of recent back-end experience with PHP
• Experience with Docker
• Familiarity with the Symfony framework
• Solid knowledge of MySQL
• Proven experience with PHP migration
• Demonstrated ability to understand and rewrite existing code during migrations
• Experience migrating monolithic applications into microservices
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments
