Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure (Python-First)
We are looking for a Senior Python Developer who wants to pivot into Platform Engineering. If you have 5+ years of software engineering experience and have spent the last 2+ years getting your hands dirty with AWS, this is the move for you.
We treat our infrastructure as a software product. We are moving away from legacy templates and building our cloud backbone using Pulumi and Python.

Aetion is a healthcare technology company that provides real-world evidence (RWE) solutions and analytics software to biopharmaceutical companies, payers, and regulatory agencies. Their platform helps organizations analyze real-world healthcare data to generate scientifically validated insights about the safety, effectiveness, and value of medical treatments, guiding critical decisions in product development, regulatory approval, reimbursement, and clinical strategy.

We are transitioning ownership of a highly sensitive, HIPAA and ISO27001–compliant AWS environment from a legacy operational model to centralized engineering standards. We are looking for a senior, autonomous infrastructure engineer to stabilize existing systems, work through legacy complexity, and lead critical migration efforts toward supported, standardized platforms.

Requirements

Must-Have
– Python: 5+ years of professional experience. You write clean, modular, and testable code. You know OOP and design patterns, not just scripts.
– AWS Practitioner: 2+ years of hands-on experience. You understand VPCs, IAM, S3, and EC2. You’ve likely used Boto3 to automate AWS tasks.
– The Shift: You are ready to move from building application APIs to building the infrastructure that runs them.

Nice to Have
– IaC: Exposure to Pulumi, AWS CDK, or Terraform.
– Containers: Experience with Kubernetes (kubectl, troubleshooting).
– Networking: Familiarity with DNS, VPNs (GlobalProtect/OpenVPN), and WSL.

Required Stack
– Core: Python (Advanced), Boto3, Bash.
– Cloud: AWS (VPC, Transit Gateway, IAM, Route53).
– CI/CD: GitHub Actions.
– Env: WSL, Kubernetes.

Job responsibilities

Infrastructure as Software:

– Refactor and modernize a complex Pulumi codebase (migrated from Terraform/CloudFormation).
– Tooling & Pipelines: Troubleshoot Packer/Image Builder pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows.
– Migration: Finalize the transition from OpenVPN to GlobalProtect, resolving networking edge cases (DNS/WSL).
– Ownership: Manage patching for isolated Windows environments and make high-level decisions on security and stability.
