Description

You will work on a healthcare technology platform where mobile and backend software directly support a medical device used to treat pain in real-world clinical settings. The system already has active users and production constraints, and the focus of the project is to strengthen its technical foundation, improve reliability, and fix critical user-facing issues that affect authentication, session stability, notifications, and accessibility.

The project represents the first phase of a larger product roadmap. Over an initial 8-week phase, the team will address the most urgent technical and UX challenges, stabilize the application, and define a scalable architecture and delivery plan for the rest of the year. This is a role for an architect who enjoys being close to the code, understanding real system behavior, and turning complex constraints into pragmatic solutions.

Requirements

We are looking for a technically strong, pragmatic architect who enjoys being deeply involved in delivery:

• 10+ years of experience in backend and/or mobile engineering, with recent experience as a Solution Architect or Tech Lead
• Strong programming background in one or several server side stacks, such us Python, Java, Golang or .NET (C#) etc.
• Strong hands-on experience with mobile application architecture (native or cross-platform) and backend services
• Practical experience designing and implementing authentication, authorization, and session management solutions
• Solid understanding of API design, cloud-based systems, and distributed architectures
• Ability to read, review, and contribute to production-level code when needed
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with designers, product managers, and business analysts
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to diagnose real production issues, not just design “ideal” architectures
• Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated domains is a plus, but not required

Job responsibilities

As a hands-on Solution Architect, you will actively shape, design, and partially implement the mobile and backend architecture. Your responsibilities will include:

• Diving into the existing mobile and backend codebase to understand current behavior, limitations, and root causes of stability and authentication issues
• Designing and improving authentication and session management mechanisms, including evaluating and implementing MFA, biometric authentication, and alternative login flows
• Actively contributing to architectural decisions around mobile apps, APIs, backend services, and data flows, with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability
• Working closely with engineers to review designs, unblock implementation, and ensure architectural decisions are executed correctly
• Collaborating with UX/UI designers and a Business Analyst to translate user journeys, accessibility requirements, and Jobs To Be Done into concrete technical solutions
• Supporting the creation and validation of UX/UI prototypes (Figma) from a technical and implementation perspective
• Defining notification strategies (push notifications, system alerts, session expiration handling) and ensuring they are correctly integrated across mobile and backend layers
• Balancing short-term fixes needed for the MVP with longer-term architectural improvements to avoid recurring issues
• Producing clear, actionable architectural documentation that engineers can directly build from
• Contributing to effort estimation and the techno-commercial proposal for MVP delivery
• Helping shape the technical roadmap for subsequent phases of the product
