Description

We are looking for a Middle Python Developer to join the team responsible for developing and deploying new features for the DataOps Platform, which powers millions of customer workloads every month.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-powered development tools as part of their daily development workflow. The role requires leveraging AI to improve coding efficiency, code quality, debugging, documentation, and software delivery.

 Join our vibrant AI Team as a Software Engineer working on Qlik’s Cloud-based AI/ML components. We
believe in the power of data — and increasingly, the power of agentic AI — to change the world. In this role
you will build and support features that combine traditional full-stack engineering with modern AI-assisted and
agentic development practices, including MCP (Model Context Protocol) tooling, AI coding assistants, and
agentic workflows that extend our platform’s ability to solve complex customer problems

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science (or equivalent).
• Overall 4+ years of experience with 1-2 years of backend development experience, preferably in product development teams.
• Strong, hands-on Python programming experience — required.
• Experience developing MCP servers — designing tools/resources and implementing the server-side protocol — not just configuring or consuming existing ones.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or Claude Desktop.
• Experience designing or implementing agentic workflows (agentic-loop patterns) — e.g., tool-use,
  planning/orchestration, and iterative reasoning loops.
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Proven experience in full-stack web development (React, Angular, or Vue.js for front-end; Django, Flask,
  or FastAPI for back-end).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues across the stack.
• Ability to learn, work with, and apply multiple technologies to solve real customer problems. Strong
  communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across geographically dispersed
  teams.
• We would be thrilled to have a teammate with:
• Experience working with on-premises (on-prem) infrastructure and deployments.
• Added bonus: hands-on experience with Qlik Sense Enterprise (on-prem version).
• Experience with Qlik products or any other Business/Data Analytics products.
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies — e.g., LLMs, RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, and chain-
  of-thought agents.
• Passion for learning emerging technologies

Job responsibilities

1. Feature & Software Development

• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and debug software features across the full stack.
• Collaborate with peers to design and build new features that meet customer needs and enhance user
experience.

2. MCP Server & Agentic Development

• Design and develop MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers— not just configuring or using
existing ones — to expose Qlik’s capabilities to AI tooling and agents.
• Design and implement agentic workflows (agentic-loop patterns) — tool-use, orchestration, and
iterative reasoning.
• Maintain, extend, and harden MCP servers already in production.

3. Collaboration and Communication

• Partner effectively with colleagues in Development, SRE, and Product Management throughout the
software development life cycle.
• Contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of service improvements.
• Communicate clearly and work effectively with geographically dispersed teams across CET working
hours.

4. Continuous Improvement

• Set the bar for performance, reliability, and quality standards within the team.
• Strive for fully automated solutions and high-quality code, including AI-assisted development
practices.
• Stay current with emerging AI, agentic, and MCP-ecosystem technologies and best practices.

5. Team Collaboration and Planning

• Participate in planning sessions with the team, contributing insights and ideas to drive future work
and product improvements.
