Description
The Principal Data Solution Architect serves as the key technical authority and strategic engineer for multi-million-pound initiatives within the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors. You will act as the executive face of technical delivery to client C-suites (CDO, CIO, CTO), bridging high-level data strategy with globally distributed engineering execution. Operating at the intersection of cloud engineering, modern data platforms, and strict regulatory compliance, the architect establishes future-proof data modeling and company-wide technical standards while driving key legacy-to-cloud modernizations.
Requirements
- Industry Leadership: 15+ years of digital engineering or IT consulting experience within BFSI, leading complex enterprise transformations.
- Platform Expertise: Deep technical proficiency in modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake) and toolsets (dbt, Airflow, Kafka).
- Advanced Architecture & AI: Mastery of Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Streaming, MLOps, and GenAI integration to drive continuous innovation.
- Governance & Compliance: Expertise in zero-trust security, lineage, privacy (GDPR, CCPA), and financial regulations (BCBS 239, DORA, Basel).
- DataOps & MLOps Execution: Track record of establishing automated CI/CD pipelines and agile practices that accelerate time-to-value.
- Executive Advisory: Strong C-suite presence (CDO, CIO, CTO) aligning technical architecture with high-level business strategy.
- Value Realization: Proven ability to convert technical and AI capabilities into measurable business ROI and strategic impact.
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Job responsibilities
- Architect and own enterprise data estates across modern cloud platforms (Databricks, Snowflake), operational platforms, and warehouses.
- Establish company-wide data modeling standards balancing data quality, trust, and operational agility.
- Translate business goals into scalable technical blueprints, architectural principles, and governance frameworks.
- Lead legacy-to-cloud modernizations enabling zero-copy sharing, unified lineage, and AI/LLM workloads.
- Pilot emerging architectural patterns and define enterprise technical standards.
- Guide cross-functional engineering teams (Ingestion, BI, QA, DevOps) to deliver resilient architectures.
- Standardize tooling, schema evolution frameworks, and canonical modeling guidelines across teams.
- Enforce modern practices including CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, and DataOps telemetry.
- Ensure architectures comply with info-security, privacy, and regulatory standards (BCBS 239, DORA, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Uphold SM&CR standards and regulatory alignment with authorities such as the FCA and PRA.
- Embed automated taxonomy, schema drift detection, and data lineage controls into production pipelines.
- Mentor engineering leads and technical talent, cultivating an agile and accountable delivery culture.
- Present architectural roadmaps and technical visions to executive leadership and C-suite stakeholders.
- Drive presales efforts by converting complex business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps.
- Partner with Technical Delivery Leads to ensure seamless execution aligned with architectural integrity.
