Requirements

Position Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Product Manager & Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in the Rail Domain to drive product strategy, requirements definition, and the delivery of advanced software solutions supporting rail signaling, rail operations, and comprehensive railway infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate seamlessly combines robust product management and agile delivery fundamentals with hands-on rail industry knowledge. In this hybrid role, you will act as both the product visionary and the domain authority, collaborating closely with engineering teams, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders to build high-quality, domain-accurate, and compliant rail software products.

Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement
1. Gather, document, and refine detailed requirements for rail software products through structured discussions with industry stakeholders and technical teams.
Translate complex rail operational, infrastructure monitoring, and signaling concepts into clear, actionable user stories and robust acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
Manage relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (business leadership, engineering, architects, and data teams), ensuring complete alignment on priorities and product expectations.

2. Product & Delivery Management
Own, prioritize, and continuously groom the product backlog based on business value, technical dependencies, engineering compliance, and stakeholder input.
Drive sprint planning, alignment, and sprint demo sessions, ensuring delivery teams remain focused on high-priority outcomes.
Demonstrate working knowledge and experience within Agile and/or AI-DLC frameworks.
Make strong, timely decisions on scope, trade-offs, and priorities under ambiguity or shifting requirements.
Use data and analytics to inform product decisions, measure feature performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
Collaborate actively with Product Owners, Architects, Data Engineers, and AI teams throughout the entire solution lifecycle.

3. Innovation
Bring or apply AI/ML experience to identify opportunities for intelligent automation, predictive insights, or AI-enabled features within rail software products (e.g., validation of AI/ML use cases for automated infrastructure monitoring).

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
1. Domain Expertise & Technical Guidance
Rail Signaling & Operations: Apply hands-on Rail Signaling experience to guide product decisions and validate technical requirements. Leverage a strong understanding of rail track map layouts to ensure software accurately represents track geometry, junctions, and network topology. Apply working knowledge of rail operations (train movements, scheduling, dispatch, safety protocols) to inform feature design.
Infrastructure Monitoring: Define business requirements, operational workflows, and platform capabilities for railway infrastructure monitoring, translating engineering requirements into actionable software features.
Data Processing & Analytics: Define engineering validation rules, quality criteria, and acceptance standards for processing rail data. Interpret infrastructure monitoring data to provide domain guidance for analytics, reporting, and solution architecture.
Asset Lifecycle Management: Define comprehensive asset lifecycle management processes, including inspection, maintenance, renewal, and retirement. Identify asset failure modes, degradation patterns, and predictive maintenance opportunities.
Terminology & Safety Governance: Demonstrate fluency in rail terminologies and industry verbiage to communicate effectively across all teams. Ensure absolute compliance with Network Rail standards, railway safety regulations, and engineering governance.

Ideal Candidate Profile
A seasoned Product Manager & Rail Domain SME who masterfully bridges the gap between complex railway engineering standards and modern software development. You are equally comfortable evaluating track geometry data, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards, and leading Agile delivery cycles. Backed by decisive judgment and analytical rigor, you can confidently collaborate with AI teams, data engineers, and rail operators to build the next generation of intelligent rail infrastructure solutions.
