Description
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and maintain geo-redundancy and failover across the platform — extending existing database geo-redundancy to the web-app tier, specifying Azure regions and writing the failover logic in code.
Implement region-aware (client-proximity) web-app allocation to meet data-residency and compliance needs — e.g. running Canadian workloads in Canada and European workloads in Europe, so customers connect to the correct regional infrastructure.
Own and optimise the Azure back-end: Cosmos DB (multi-region NoSQL), Azure Tables (long-term storage), Web Apps and virtual networks.
Drive performance optimisation and platform scalability across a high-volume, multi-tenant SaaS environment.
Contribute to strategic initiatives — decomposition of services into microservices and a future token/transaction-based usage-billing model.
Build and maintain application features in C#/Blazor Server alongside the infrastructure work, including Single Sign-On.
Work AI-first — use AI coding assistants day-to-day and build within a RAG-enabled codebase.
Requirements
Role Summary
A senior, hands-on .NET developer who owns the platform’s cloud infrastructure through code. This is not a networking or system-administration role and not a pure architect — the person writes C# and configures Azure infrastructure programmatically. Within the Blazor/Azure model much of the infrastructure (regions, failover, resource allocation) is defined in code, so the ideal candidate is a sophisticated, enterprise-level Azure developer who can both build application features and engineer the platform’s resilience, scalability and performance.
Must-Have Skills
Blazor Server — strong, demonstrable hands-on experience (mandatory).
C# / .NET 8 — expert-level, full-stack (front-end and back-end in C#).
Azure (as code) — Cosmos DB, Azure Tables, Web Apps, virtual networks; configuring regions, failover and resource allocation programmatically.
Resilience engineering — geo-redundancy, multi-region deployment, high availability and performance optimisation.
SaaS at scale — multi-tenant, high-volume production systems.
AI-assisted development — practical use of AI coding tools; awareness of RAG-based architectures.
Nice-to-Have
Payments / FinTech domain knowledge.
Exposure to Azure app services and multi-tenant SaaS products.
Single Sign-On / identity flows and secure payment UI experience.
